Appointing Jose Mourinho at any club would be a seismic event. At Tottenham, it feels as if the club’s Seismograph has just been hurled from the roof of Lilywhite House.
All established footballers come with their own unique baggage and it’s fair to say that Jose’s could fill the left luggage at Victoria station.
However, the level of resistance expressed towards Jose strikes the blogger as peculiar to put it mildly.
Exhibit A is this piece from a fan in today’s Daily Mail which speaks of “ripping up” everything that Pochettino built. And describes Pochettino as “one of our greatest ever managers”…
There’s also good thread discussing the situation on Spurs Community and I’d recommend you to take a look.
After a fair few comments that frankly lacked enthusiasm, this response from Shady Dan sums up my view on the appointment.
OBJECTION ONE He’ll want a bazillion to spend every window!
In an ideal world, I’m sure he would, but given the amount of time that was spent getting a contract agreed, this would have undoubtedly come up in conversation.
So no, it is unlikely that Levy will receive a knock on his door in a few weeks time, only to be blown over by a list of utterly incredible, demands.
OBJECTION TWO is How will he leave the club?!
It’s perhaps time for some Spurs fans to reboot their entire mentality towards Tottenham. A steady diet of ‘jam tomorrow’ from ENIC has induced an irrational fear of success.
Personally, I hope Jose stays for may two or three seasons and wins two or three trophies in that time. I’m not looking for a dynasty.
Sadly, those days of generational achievement have long gone, and modern football is all about striking whilst the iron is hot. Churning the players, keeping the voice in the dressing room fresh and doing what professional athletes are all out to do – win trophies.
CONCLUSION
The culture must absolutely change, and we are left once more hoping that ENIC will nurture whatever Jose wants to do, opposed to suffocate, as they eventually did with Poch.
It’s time the 62,000 seater and world-class training facilities were finally put to good use.
Forza Mourinho!
Jose stock has seriously fallen it remains to be seen if hes going to succeed or not.. His recent united and chelsea teams capitulated rapidly, he spent alot at both clubs and we were still arguably better… Time will tell, i hope you are right my friend, but not so sure.. Its not the same special one from back in 2004.. Its why we have him, damaged goods, bayern reportedly turned down maureen
Question to Oneself . When did you first have doubts about Botch ? Answer. When THFC were chasing the PL Title with Leicester and Botch decided to have a liitle meeting with Sir Alex. He gave the Media a field day , with talks of him being Man Utds next Manager. Spurs lost focus , finished 3rd in a 2 Horse race and Botch felt like a Winner .
Paul. Jose was at a Spurs Home game a Month back, the discussions at that time were ongoing . Botch knew that the Jig was up. The story about Rogers being Spurs first choice is Bull.
Get Real David, for Christs sake .
Harry kane all day long
But isn’t the Lo Celso deal a loan with an obligation to buy rather than an option?
All very odd.
Id say Toby should have been captain for last 3 years but he needs a contract first….
Or hand Son the captaincy?
He has an old head but he will have to dominate on the field before such honours.
Naturally Jose will milk the adulation of the popping cameras in the dug out on Saturday!
No on this occasion!. Ok he has lost his place in the side but despite his lack of creativity he is an energetic passionate guy who seldom gives less than 100% to the cause.
“Yes Mo, I trusted your judgement in players 100% – here’s the one you asked for, you don’t need to read the finer points of the deal…” “it says ‘loan deal’” “Really? Oh that…”
Very much so…..and to think fans were putting Lo Celsos 55 mill in the summer spending section to defend Levy. These lot are masters at conning and minipulation, but hell….why would they stop when it keeps working over and over and over and over??
…..and it’s working again for Joses arrival. New project, new jam,……the beat goes on. Roll up and give ya cash.
Just play ‘Jose gamesmanship tactics bingo’ – is that a life size animatronic Drogba rolling around on the turf with 5 minutes still on the clock?
Are you drunk DD?
I mean training ground
intense! way too intense for football. I hope all ok.
I wasn’t bored but only due to ridiculous level of emotional investment and thoughts of suicide
Handing the captaincy to Harry Winks would be a welcome start!
Never thought I would get bored watching us in a CL final.
very true – I think Poch been poor to watch for the whole of 2019…maybe longer. apart from a few odd games.
The minute Poch’s signing Lo Celso was turned into a loan deal the writing was on the wall – cheeky from Levy, this has been planned a while
Yep either an instant marriage made in heaven or a complete utter disaster, me thinks!
On the quiet the football under Poch has become awful to watch – I’ll reserve judgement on the entertainment quality Jose will dish up but the idea we could reach a big final and the manger won’t threaten to resign if we win it gives me a little boost for now.
The ruthless nature of the sacking and Jose in the very next day confirms this has been well planned – that at least is a good start – and clearly there’s no way Jose would take the job unless he could live with the £££ on offer for players. And Levy must know that if he walks back on that then Jose will humiliate him in the press immediately. Jose doesn’t want to get involved in anything that will hurt brand Jose and Levy in entering into a deal with Jose (which will involve £££ for players) is de facto admitting that he’s not going to make the same mistake again and not back the manager. Levy got what he wanted with the new stadium and unfortunately Poch was just the vehicle that got him there. Any whiff of relegation given our debt levels and Levy’s personal investment in the stadium would have been catastrophic and has obviously forced our Daniel to act. Have to give him some credit. For once he has taken needed action and done it quickly and ruthlessly. I am actually quite optimistic for the first time in ages!
Debonair and charming, what a hunky film star so says Joyce|!
Jose outside the stadium taking pictures
Until you face either likely Liverpool or Citeh in the Finals!!
a few years of not bothering watching…get my weekends back. lol. HOnestly, I watch football to be immersed, not to catch up on sleep and watch “tactical” 1-0’s
I’ll sacrifice some flash for some trophies. We need some to take off
It’s possible. 😉
He’ll go back to the sun I reckon.
he is an upgrade if all you care about is end of season stats and don’t care about what you watch. Also don’t care about how you get to the wins and the people that get you there.
I imagine Ole not feeling great either. I have heard United not likely to move just now, so Real may move fast.
This appointment is an upgrade.
I cant believe Levy pulled it off.
I did love Poch but we move on.
Jose wins stuff. And he is here, with us.
FA cup and Champions league double anyone?
Dunno but I do no z z is pooing himself in Spain right about now😂
Mourinhion on Mourinhio
“I won 8 titles. Respect, respect, respect….
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/50490938
very true…but for me you have to ask, is Poch issues going to be same as jose?
He’s young. He’ll be back
And won NOTHING but hearts
he won more than we have won in the past 20yrs…so there is that. However, he spent Circa £371m in less than 2yrs, and averaged £33m a player. Poch has spent less in 5yrs and 10ish windows than Jose spent in 3.
These fools want him to fail. Calling themselves spurs fans. Fake fans
There will be no culture change under ENIC.
*grail
What Jose agree;s on day one is not what Jose says post a spat of losing. I give him until Feb, if he has not turned it around, he will blame the players, and will turn on what he himself has said about a great squad and complain no money was spent. I then would say if he doesn’t “compete” in a way he see’s fit I give him half way through summer to call bull-hicky on Levy and the way he works. As I have said before, from a football stand point, the only good I can see coming of this is Levy finally being called out by a manager at the top of committing the crime.
