Tough day at the office for Dele Alli in many respects, and I can only reiterate the sentiments I made previously on this matter. Something someone says/does that results in some/many people finding that thing distasteful is very different to “that thing” being a bona fide example of race hate.
Is the Coronavirus a laughing matter? Some/many will say that it absolutely cannot not be a subject that lends itself to humour. Rightly or wrongly, human tragedy historically been a catalyst for satire.
For example, Jewish megastar Larry David rightly or wrongly blew many fuses with this Saturday Night Live routine.
He should never have apologised and he’s done himself no favours by doing so.
There is a reason it took a group English men to write this:

Aint that the truth
A friend of mine is “recovering: from prostate cancer. He’s also gay. And English. To say his humour is occasionally “dark” is somewhat of an understatement.
There was also that time (pre Trump) that North Korea were considering bombing the UK. British Twitter responded with anti Kim Jong-un football chants.
It’s not the joke or tone of it , its the fact that this brainless idiot once again is putting himself in the spot light for anything but football.
The reason his game has dipped so badly, wrong attitude, wrong mentality and wrong people around him.

I just watched that video above and the thing that struck me is,he’s going through the motions.There’s no emotion there it’s just something his advisers/ENIC have told him needs to be done.He’s doing his best not to laugh in my opinion.Lack of sincerity.Time he grew up.

I love Larry David. His “Curb Your Enthusiasm” series is to be enjoyed like a fine wine. Dele Alli is an overpaid, overrated spoilt child who will never become a great footballer.

As long as he plays good football and scores goals, what he does in his spare time (as long as it’s not detrimental to his health) is of no concern to me.
We are English… It’s what we do, we laugh and try to make light of the most dire situations. Do I agree with what he did, no, do I see it as a joke, well he tried, he was not intentionally being anything other than funny. People need to get a life, I remember sitting on a cancer ward once and for close to an hour all the people on it tried to make cancer jokes. I will say again, we are English and we laugh in the face of danger and atrocities.
How people view his actions and later words of regret are debatable, his own interpretation is the usual from incredibly ignorant people in his position, act first think later is typical. Dele is not a kid anymore, he has had enough life experience to know that fame does not come without its drawbacks , in the social media world we live in. He has thrown the spotlight on himself but for the wrong reasons, remember what Captain Mainwaring said, “You stupid boy”.
He is a mercurial loose cannon, C’est la vie!
I forgive you dele. Many won’t want to. But I’m young though. Errm. Grow up man.
