Opinion: December’s Transfer Rumours So Far All Wrap & No Gift

By The Boy -

The Mirror is the purveyor of this transfer rumour which may ask more questions than it answers.

Spurs scouting Eden Dzeko under new boss Jose Mourinho! I appreciate I’ve been overdoing it on the Guinness and port recently, but has this really precipitated some awkward reverse time travel to 2012?

Ah, but it’s all about that Fernando Llorente groove, man!

I’d rather hoped we might move on from this sort of thing under the Chosen One. A 34-year faithful retainer, or talented 17-year-old from the back streets of Dublin, looking to make a name for himself?

That was a rhetorical question, by the way.

Next up is Kalidou Koulibaly. This too, seems to be the work of a less than diligent mind as it would take €100,000 to bring this 28-year-old to Haringey, say El Desmarque.

Difficult to believe that even the hypnotically charming Mr Mourinho could illicit this sort of cash from Mr Levy for a player in the ‘autumn’ of his years.

The Senegalese is undoubtedly a solid defender, but just because he was previously rumoured to be on Jose’s wish list at Manchester United, doesn’t mean very much now, a year on.

Despite splashing the cash, by playing in a vacuous stadium Spammers owners delusions of grandeur aspirations is clearly hindered by their deficient recruitment policy following underwhelming expensive signings of Brazilian Anderson and Haller respectively.

No I wouldn’t have Noble at Spurs but he gives his all for his club and never hides. I like that about him.

I’d take Antonio any day, don’t like Noble for some reason though.

Agree. & glad it seems to be working for him. Just pointing out it seemed to be more him then any one manager. Hopefully learned a few lessons & will have a good career.

Spammers are currently garbage, Antonio and Noble are the only two worth a mention, doubt their manager will be there next season. Not even sure it’s entirely Pellegrini’s fault. They’ve got weird owners, even more weird than ours!

His career was in danger of fizzling out, credit to him for going abroad and sorting himself out.

Edwards has got his act together better now, probably matured a bit. Talented but lacked application according to the Norwich manager when he was there. Perhaps he’s had a light bulb moment and changed his attitude.

That’s why we won’t sign him…

I was thinking about it… Unlikely both arsenal and West ham get relegated… So that was best result. If we keep winning arsenal can’t catch us so they won’t get top 4. Europa is perfect as it’s such a drain on your league performance.

That’s revisionist. Couldnt get into any of the teams he was loaned to either. & poch wasnt managing him because he was on loan. I also believe he turned down a contract offered to him.

Only when they’re holding up a Spurs shirt.

That’s my approach to our transfer rumours.

Good thing levy did is thing so it won’t come back to bite us that much. All Marcus needs is one England first team call up then he will start to rise. He wants to be with his under 21 mates. Sancho and Marcus.

If Jose came a week before Marcus was sold and watched him play up close Marcus would’ve been offered a new contract. Poch couldn’t manage one of our best and most talented youts. That and the SEVEN

Matic is probably the only one that’s a possibility as a short term option but I reckon Dier will fit Jose’s approach and regain form. On Saturday he allowed Sissoko and Co to get forward, if you don’t shackle Sissoko with defending he can he effective.

I think you are missing a zero on Koulibaly’s fee. None of these are going to happen, journo guff, filling up pages.
