One Tottenham player singled out for his ‘shocking’, ’embarrassing’ performance against Brentford

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been hugely criticised for his performance against Brentford on Boxing Day.

German ace Vitaly Janelt gave Thomas Frank’s team the lead in the opening minutes of the game and the deal was doubled in the second half after a poor piece of defending from Spurs allowed Ivan Toney to score from the corner.

Spurs did make a come-back late in the game scoring twice in 6 minutes, thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Hojbjerg.

Regardless, it was yet another uninspiring performance from Conte’s men and one player was singled out for his poor performances by multiple pundits.

The Mali midfielder came under fire from Guardian journalist Rob Davies on Twitter labelling his performance ‘embarrassing

Meanwhile, Jamie O’Hara did not pull back any punches either in his assessment of the player’s first half performance, calling him ‘absolutely shocking’. He tweeted: Bissouma is Mr touch tackle he’s absolutely shocking

Spurs spent £35million for the services of Yves Bissouma who had established himself as one of the best midfielders in his position under Graham Potter at Chelsea.

But since the move, things have not really worked for him and he has failed to become a regular under Conte.

This was only his 7th start for Spurs with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ahead of him in the pecking order.

It has been said that it is perhaps Antonio Conte’s style of play that is not suited for the player who was more of a box to box midfielder under Potter at Brighton.
