Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil is currently on loan at Spanish club Sevilla.
The 22-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth since his move to the North London club and he has been loaned out so that he can get regular first-team action.
Speaking to Estadio Deportivo regarding his long-term future, Gil has revealed that his future does not depend on him but he feels very comfortable at Sevilla and he has also labeled the club as his home.
He has revealed that the only reason he wanted to leave Tottenham on loan was because of the lack of playing time at the Premier League club.
“Whenever I have left Tottenham, it has been to look for minutes and to feel comfortable, to feel important. Here I am, having all that. I feel very comfortable and it’s my home. Right now, I can’t think about the future, and besides, that doesn’t depend on me.”
The 22-year-old was regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Spain when he joined Tottenham but he has struggled to adapt to English football so far. He will be hoping to improve and fulfil his tremendous potential with regular football in the coming seasons and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to sell him permanently at the end of the season.
It is evident that the 22-year-old does not have a future at the Premier League club and a permanent move would be ideal for all parties. Tottenham should look to cut their losses on the Spaniard and invest the proceeds from the sale into their playing squad.
Tottenham must look to add more quality and depth to their attack in the summer. Bringing in a quality winger who can score goals as well as create opportunities could prove to be a wise decision.
There is no doubt that Gil is a prodigious talent and he could develop into a quality player in the near future. However, the move to Tottenham has simply not worked out for him and he should look to explore other opportunities in the summer.
