“of course I would…” – Former Premier League manager admits he would take the Spurs job if they came calling for him

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his willingness to take over the managerial duties at Tottenham, should the club reach out to him.

The club is currently going through a major crisis after sacking their manager Antonio Conte and his assistant Cristian Stellini due to a string of poor performances, including a humiliating 6-1 loss against Newcastle on Sunday.

Redknapp, who previously managed Tottenham between 2008 and 2012, was instrumental in helping the club avoid relegation in his first season as manager.

He then guided the team to a top-four finish in his first full season, securing a spot in the Champions League. Tottenham had a decent run in the competition the following season, making it to the quarter-finals before losing to Real Madrid.

In his final season with the club, he secured another top-four finish, but was ultimately sacked in June 2012.

Speaking to TalkSport, Redknapp admitted that it was unlikely that the club would reach out to him, but if they did, he would be willing to return to manage the team.

He said (8:39am onwards):

“It’s very, very unlikely that they would come knocking, I would be truthful, but if they did, then of course I would go back and take it.”

However, with only six games remaining in the current season, it is unlikely that Redknapp will be brought in to turn things around.

Tottenham is now being managed by interim manager Ryan Mason, who will oversee the remaining six games of the season.

While the club is currently struggling, they still have a slim chance to finish in the top four and secure a spot in the Champions League next season.
