“Nuno should quit because he is embarrassing himself as Levy’s patsy” This Fan’s Had Enough

By The Boy -
Finn nails it

Watching a performance like that leaves me with a need to wash, to try to somehow scrub away my disgust. Last week at West Ham was bad enough, but as if being dared, we somehow managed to descend even further – it was the only thing we did manage to dare to do.

First off, Nuno has to go – he should never have been appointed: he’s out of his depth and powerless to effect change. He’ll stay (at least for now) because no one will pick up the poisoned chalice, but he was only appointed because he was just about credible, would do what he was told and was naive enough to buy the magic beans.

His team selection is questionable, his preparation, training, tactics, substitutions, and “philosophy” lacks……. well, everything. We are unfit, unmotivated, have no strategy, plan, or tactics to achieve either one. Basically, it’s a train wreck, but what is worse it’s a train wreck that everyone including Levy and Paratici, had to have seen coming.

Frankly, Nuno should have taken Kane off instead of Lucas – we’re currently playing with ten men. Whatever is wrong with him and his game, it has to be sorted out because it’s getting worse and we can’t keep on carrying him on match day. But Nuno hasn’t got the minerals to take off Kane. He hasn’t got the minerals to play with a defense of less than 6 – a back four and two (!) defensive midfielders, one of which (Skipp) is striving to emulate Winks’ forward passing ability and Dele Alli’s concentration.

So with seven out of eleven defending and three strikers, our forward focussed midfield is down to one – Lo Celso. Sonny and Harry are pinning their hopes on him carrying the entire creative load, with only Lucas able to try knitting any flow in transition.

“Sorry” simply doesn’t cut it when you can see it coming, there are no prizes for “trying” and to work harder we need to have started to work – the evidence is to the contrary. Nuno should quit because he is embarrassing himself as Levy’s patsy.

There is no leadership at any level; leaders have been sequentially eradicated from the club; people asking awkward questions soon disappear. No leadership on the field, none at the coaching level, nothing from management, just a Chairman whose leadership credentials should earn him a place exiled on Elba.

This is now a club where even bleach, carbolic, or a wire brush and Detrol, will only cleanse the surface grime, unable to penetrate to the rottenness of the core.

That rotten core is ENIC.

That rotten core is LEVY.

Would you or did you ever walk away from a 5million a year job?

Why are none of us surprised. This debacle has been long in the making aided and abetted by supreme incompetence from the top (Levy) down. Nuno is yet another head to add to Levy’s sacrificial block. When you do not invest in your club at this level then you can hardly be surprised at the outcome. Constant incomings of unproven or thin talent will eventually leave the cupboard bare. It is obvious to most who (apart from Levy) should depart our shores. All, Dier, Winks, Stevie B, Davies, Docherty should all be on their way a.s.a.p. If ENIC will not go willingly then perhaps we, the fans, should make their stay untenable. Cut out the rot and start again with (perhaps) some success minded owners who believe in football NOT real estate.

If we’d selected NES based on the promotion from the championship. Him
subsequently keeping Wolves in the PL. I’d say yeah good shout.

However,Levy chose him when the same Wolves side were in free fall playing badly and him, NES clearly having lost his way as manager. A manager who Wolves quickly realised was out of his depth and as a result. Sacked.

It was clear from the moment Mourinho was sacked that Levy didn’t have a plan. Appointing Ryan Mason and Ledley King was nothing less than a desperate act by a desperate chairman.

If you compare Levy to the Pozo’s at Watford who are trigger happy when it comes to managers. The comparison is chalk and cheese. The Pozo’s will already have Ranierie’s replacement sounded out. Levy 71 days to find a manager with the status of a big club to offer perspective suitors vs a small town club like Watford who will be destined to relegation this season or next.

I won’t be sad if NES gets the sack. He was never the right man for the job. The problem Levy has now is finding a manager who can grab this motley bunch of players by the scruff of the neck and get a tune out of them. The even bigger problem. I don’t believe there’s a manager out there that can ….

A/ Do it
B/ Or wants to work for Levy to get chance to do it. Certainly not one any kind of reputation.

The great Danny, Blanchflower that is (not our hideous CEO) was partial to a bit of Scott Fitzgerald, I believe.

Lots to agree. We should not have signed him, but who could sort this out? Seriously, it is a mess. I would dearly love to know the details of the Fonseca debacle.

He won’t.No manager has to resign these days as when the axe comes they depart with a healthy pay-off.Why risk the inevitable. It’s a win-win situation for managers.

I watched Nuno’s reaction to yesterday’s debacle on Match of the Day.

Not his useless afternatch speech but his face as the boos rang around.

His face was a picture and it was worth a thousand words. I could see embarrassment, pain, bewilderment and resignation that he was in serious trouble all flicker across his face.

I thought he was going to start crying. I felt sorry for him. Yes sorry for a guy who earns millions and will earn more millions when he is sacrificed on Levy’s altar.

I haven’t really warmed to Nuno, his press conferences do him absolutely no favours but I believe it when people say he is a good and decent man.

What I’m really sorry for is that Nuno has become another victim (well paid no doubt) of the ENIC mincing machine that gobbles up managers, players and ordinary staff and trashes them and their reputations.

Sorry for going on but I’m going to leave you with a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, “The Great Gatsby”. Substitute the names Tom and Daisy for ENIC, the chairman and owner and you’ll get my drift.

“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy — they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess.”

Why should he resign? He has just started a 2 year contract and he knows how handy Levy is with paying compo/throwing away our money.

No need to worry he will receive a payoff , just so he keeps his thoughts to himself, like all Ex managers. A gagging order.

I commented on the old lots ‘breakaway’ blog, it was deleted before I’d finished typing it!? Did say we’d see in 5 years….it’s been about 3 ….but I think weve all got the picture by now.
This is what ENIC have done. Division. Rotten ex fc.

Can’t believe read a comment on there saying ‘ Know one could have foreseen this in the Poch years ‘
Err, seems this site doesn’t exist and all the last 10 years of a handful of us constantly warning of what was coming.
Unreal. Actually incredible.

Indeed, if he had any dignity he would leave Levy to manage it himself.

Couldn’t agree more except that Levy should be exiled to St Helena where Napoleon died, having previously escaped from Elba.
A fish rots from the head and this is what has happened at Spurs.

“Nuno should quit because he is embarrassing himself as Levy’s patsy.” Agreed.

A wise synopsis Finn. 👍
