Nuno Santo urged to sort out his starting players in problem spot for Chelsea match

By Bruce Grove -

Pundit Danny Mills says Nuno Espirito Santo has to find his best midfield partnership as Tanguy Ndombele struggles for a game time this season.

The midfield has emerged as a problem spot for Tottenham in this campaign with Nuno Espirito going with three holding midfielders in the match against Crystal Palace.

That formation left them short of creativity and they ultimately lost the game 3-0.

Ndombele is one of Spurs most creative players, but the Frenchman is very inconsistent and he has struggled to play this season.

He was in the team that drew 2-2 at Rennes in midweek and it remains unclear if he has done enough to keep his place in the team for the Chelsea game.

Former Premier League star, Mills claims Nuno Santo has to get his team selection right sooner than later and know who he can trust to play in every position on the team.

“I think Tottenham are still in a settling-down period at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

“They had a really good start, but now they just need to kick on and go again now after last week.

“Nuno needs to figure out his best midfield. Does Winks fit into that, or is he a squad player?

“He needs to work through it and work out his best formation and personnel, and if that includes Ndombele.

“Nuno will still be learning an awful lot about his players.

“There’s no need to press the panic button just yet.”
