“No one wants him” – Harry Kane trolled by these fans over response to Antonio Conte arrival

By Mark Brus -

There’s chatter that Harry Kane is now prepared to abandon his plans to leave Tottenham after the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager.

The England international’s future has been in some doubt for a while now, leading to plenty of speculation over the summer that ultimately didn’t amount to anything, even if he did skip a few training sessions just before the start of the season.

Kane’s form since then has been pretty non-existent, so you can understand that fans don’t exactly seem that bowled over by the news about his decision on his future.

Conte should be a huge upgrade on Nuno Espirito Santo, so perhaps Kane will soon be back to firing the goals in again, but for the time being it’s perhaps a bit rich of him to expect anyone will still want him after just one goal in the Premier League so far this season.

Here’s some of the Twitter reaction to the latest Kane news…

But doesn’t Jose stay somewhere for 2-3 seasons. Weren’t we told Jose will be given what was needed to complete his jigsaw?. Look what happened there.

I’m sure that’s why Jose can demand the same amount as Conte. Jose comes in does his thing for a few seasons, wins trophies then leaves on a big pay day because he’s bored.

I agree we have decent players, but Kane deep down doesn’t want to be at Spurs. I can’t blame him. Lucas is a good squad player just for me is quite consistent enough. Romero needs a good defensive partner and I believe that could be Rodon but he never gets picked for some reason. Emerson I’m still not sure on yet. Reggy I believe there is a player in him and I think he’s more suited as a wing back than a full back. Son, PEH and Lloris are the quality players who want to be at Spurs, who are leaders and winners.

I don’t care if it was £14m for Nuno only or for hum and his staff. To me thats £14m wasted when you could have gotten Conte straight away, I don’t believe Conte about spending time with his family as the reason he didn’t take the job on in the first place. But I could be wrong.

Its working for Moyes at Spam too he’s on a 2 year. They extend if successful.. We are clearly in transition and rebuilding, but we have some good players to build around. Lloris Romero Emerson Rodon Reggy Hojberg Son Lucas Kane. Conte will know what he wants to complete his jigsaw in no time. He will have watched all our games in his time off.. Conte rebuilds and wins titles and trophies and then leaves on the 2-3 year mark.. He doesn’t need 5 years to build his teams and install his philosophy … Hence why he commands 15 million a year.. Which is more than twice what NES earnt. 7 million a year. He got paid a severance pack of his 2 year contract so 14 million he recieved.. Not his staff.. Managers wages are listed online somewhere.

Its works teams like Chelsea and PSG because they have money to throw at players. We don’t have the same resources.

We are constantly told about a rebuild, how can rebuild changing managers every other season?.

Kane trolled by the trolls.. Not Spurs fans obviously.. Kane will soon be back with some Conte diamond polishing.. He did wonders for Lukaku.

Nuno was on 7 million a year. If he didn’t make top 6 at the end of the season then he could have been sacked for nothing. Baldy chose to pull the trigger early so he had to pay him for his full 2 years as severance. 14 million. The rest of his staff would have been on a lot less.

Not quite, this is the way managers contracts are going now. With an option to extend for a year.. It’s worked for Poch at PSG and Tuchel at Chelsea. All they had was 2 year contracts.

I agree, I think he will. Too much water under the bridge now, he might reconsider if Levy backs Conte properly and he can see us pushing in but that’s hard to imagine…

When the club and people within the club split from the Levy mantra, things get done. He can’t sack Kane and he can’t make him play well. Levy isn’t actually in charge of this situation at all… 😂

All of the above, 100% correct. I’ll be staggered if it plays out any other way…

I doubt the compensation was anywhere near fourteen million for Nuno.

The things is if, if Levy was waiting for Conte to be ready, why pay out £14m to Nuno and his staff. Why not just keep Mason on as we all know the results would be similar and would have saved money.

Conte came because Levy begged and over payed again. Nothing will change under Conte, that’s why he was only given an 18 month contract.

That £14 million contract includes three other staff who left with Nuno I’d imagine.

Kane was led up the garden path when he signed that contract. This appointment, if a signal of intent, is the kind of thing Levy would have assured him about to get him to sign up. Perhaps he would have imagined Poch being backed and the whole ‘project’ being stepped up.

The opposite has happened, but has Kane actually won in this face-off with Levy? Levy can’t sell him for anything like the valuation he would have accepted because Kane and the team are flat as a pancake, and have been for the best part of three years.

If Nuno had done better then Conte would not be at the club now, so please, this idea that we didn’t get him because he wasn’t ‘ready’ just doesn’t float. Or this idea that this was all part of some carefully stage managed plan, it cost 14m to sever Nuno’s contract, so I very much doubt it!

I imagine he would have been ready four months ago had the offer been attractive enough, so Conte isn’t actually telling lies but he’s bending the truth to make the whole thing more palatable. I like Italy very much and most of the people but things are never always straightforward and you can’t always take things in business at face value.

Anyway, now onto the next phase of all this. Will it work, will he be backed etc etc… Does a leopard change it’s spots?

Harry Kane was naïve in signing the 6 year deal. Granted he had no idea Covid would stop the free spending but still, when he saw Aurier stumble in after Walker left I would have felt the game was up. He was sold the myth of Jose and won another EPL Golden Boot, but if he had left to (insert any top club) he would have had his hands on some winner’s medals by now. Conte might get the best out of him again, but is Conte going to do the same for Dier, Sanchez, Doherty, Lo Celso, Ndom, Winks, Bergwijn and Alli? Under Jose Kane exploded but the team were rank awful.

Five Spurs articles on the Guardian football website, all free to read, Barney Ronay I can recommend and Italian journalist Nicky Bandini on Conte.

Also a David Squires cartoon strip featuring Spurs which are always worth a look.

Also an article by Martin Cloake vice chairman of the Tottenham supporters Trust just to annoy Harry.

Those twitter numpties are just jealous that’s all. It could be argued that Kane downing tools, whether meaningly or subconsciously, achieved the desired result in getting a bang average manager sacked and a world class one inbound. Thanks Harry!

True, it achieved the desired result this time around.

I still think he’ll look to leave. The promise of winning an FA or League Cup is not going to change his mind.

And those fans who have turned on him will have helped make up his mind for him.

If they didn’t down tools, we might have a few more pts and still have Nuno. Sometimes you have to do something like downing tools to impact change as levy didn’t look like doing much.

Kane is a goal scorer and if you don’t feed him, he’ll go hungry. Our chances created under Nuno was pathetic. Norwich probably had more chances.

I get he wanted to leave, and completely understand why, but to down tools and not play for Nuno is a disgrace to the club and fans.

We all know Nuno was a bad fit, but the guy didn’t deserve to be treated the way he was.

I really hope Conte kicks arse and gets rid of the slackers and moaners.
