Mourinho supports Tottenham making a move for one of his former players

By Bruce Grove -

As the summer transfer window nears its opening, there is a lot of transfer speculation going around and Tottenham isn’t immune to the rumours.

The Lilywhites have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, but it doesn’t make sense to think that there would be no movement in and out of the club when the transfer window reopens.

A new report from L’Equipe via Sport Witness is claiming that as part of his summer plans, Jose Mourinho may look to raid his former side, Chelsea, for a defender.

Kurt Zouma is the player that is interesting Tottenham, a move Mourinho would apparently support and the defender might be interested in being reunited with his old boss claims the same report.

The thinking is that if Zouma left Chelsea, he would love to remain in the Premier League, opening the door for a reunion with Mourinho.

Zouma was an important part of Chelsea’s starting XI when the season started, but he fell out of favour just before the coronavirus-enforced break. Nevertheless, the Frenchman has made 22 league appearances for the Blues this season.

Jan Vertonghen is set to leave the Lilywhites this summer after running down his contract with them and the North Londoners would likely be in the market for a new defender.

Whether that would be Zouma is open to question, especially considering that the defender once claimed that Mourinho called him rubbish (Goal.com)
