A good many football outlets appear to be suspending their disbelief over what feels like an inevitable global crash in the transfer market. Perhaps better to let the current batch of Tottenham transfer rumours just wash over you, like a talk radio station in the background as you fall into a deep sleep.
FootMercato have boxed clever here though, and quote José as complimenting Issa Diop after the last West Ham-Manchester United match, that United won 3-1, “Congratulations to the scout who spotted this twenty-one-year-old kid. It’s a monster. He dominated all the duels”.
High praise, but do West Ham do Hire Purchase? …is my immediate thought. A valuation of £60million is also cited and that number – again – feels like it belongs in the past.
Tottenham need a better defence (amongst other things) and Diop could almost certainly provide the mental and physical intent that we’ve been missing.
One for the list, by all means. Again, austerity measures are likely to trump many such suggested signings.
MORE Levy could hold Premier League tailgate parties
MORE Lamela off at last?

An ambitious club could make hay while the sun shines. Newcastle United have come into money at just the right moment to hoover up talent at very attractive prices. Remember Mr Levy when it’s gone, it’s gone.
