A report from Matteo Moretto of Sky Sports indicates that perhaps the last stumbling block before the completion of Cristian Romero’s transfer to Tottenham.
This alongside a negotiation process that has clearly dragged over not just the amount payable but for the scheduling of the payments, this seal has been a drawn-out business, even by Daniel Levy’s standards.
As mentioned previously in this place, this leaves the club’s board staring at very little time before the season starts and with an absolute tonne of transfer activity to undertake.
To date, Spurs have bought just a backup goalkeeper and a 20-year-old who is extremely unlikely to be a massively unproven starting XI player in Premier League games.
I would suggest that even beyond the unresolved business of Harry Kane’s future, anyone who believes that this squad – along with its rather sorry football pitch decal emblazoned on the dressing room floor – is truly ready for the forthcoming season is living in la-la land.
Life at the N17. Am not sure anyone asking for any player but Stevie.
So what is the problem, only sign defenders if we can get 2 in?
Our deadwood won’t be shifted because as usual Levy will ask too much for them. Sissoko for £30m – is he having a laugh?
The usual levy faf…
One thing is for sure one decent but untried in the prem player is not going to sort our defence out.
So Levy sat on this one, it has nothing to do with Atalanta settling their business with Juventus and getting a replacement? Base on other reports true or not Atalanta was holding out for the fee, but at the same time had unfinished business of their own linking to selling Romero. If the deal is done, that is all that matters. He is coming in shaping so a a week or so will bring him up to speed. Am more concern we still have Serge, who was said to be gone at the end of the season, Dier, Sissoko, Sanchez and Winks. Gut feelings those barks will still be here.
This is good news especially if we sign Tomi as well but Paratici needs to shift at least 3 of these jokers before we can relax (and sign a striker now as well)
WInks
Sissoko
Dier
Sanchez
Welcome to Levy-land.
The club do not currently possess a single experienced central defender (Dier doesn’t count), we have one substandard left-bac and our only senior striker wants out.
Given all of this, we take forever to conclude a deal for a single defender of the required quality, with the new season approaching. While our sixth choice manager has to prepare the team.
A complete and utter mess…
He’s a w@nker always.
He’s an accountant first and foremost.
The usual Levy rubbish. Dawdle, delay, deflect and waste as much of the transfer windows as possible so the needed amount of churn in and out isn’t possible. This saves money in the short-term but destroys the football club going forward. ENIC only care about the property on the balance sheet so the football club can do one as far as they’re concerned.
After nearly 50 years of supporting…….nothing ever shocks me about Spurs.
Even in the 80’s under Irving Scholar the club was a shambles, floating it on the stock market to borrowing a million from Robert Maxwell to buy Lineker.
We really should have the Benny Hill theme tune when the players come out of the tunnel.
While I understand Harry’s desire to leave, him not turning up for training is disrespectful to the club, manager, players and us fans.
But the bricks haven’t arrived
Can’t wait to see him bang them in top corner when we have no other striker
It’s ok though, because we have paratici now…….
the facts are we currently have a worse squad than last season, two weeks to go and we have Chelsea coming up tomorrow…
For a rebuild, the cement is still very very wet indeed….this is painful..wonder if they use the printed pitch for hopscotch..
winks, sissoko, aurier, sanchez, dier, moura or bergwijn, clarke, CCV etc.
How have none of these been moved on.
We have sold only two players – our best CB, and our CB who won the Europa League last season.
And managed to fumble a couple out the door at the end of their contracts or hidden in the small print in cockney to trick Seville into taking one
It is shocking, even for spurs.
Zzzzzz.
