Tottenham’s promising start to the season has hit a stumbling block, with a growing list of injuries adding to their concerns, particularly in defense.
The team’s ten-game unbeaten streak came to a harsh end with a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, compounded by significant injuries during the encounter.
James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were the latest casualties, facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Maddison is expected back in January, while Van de Ven’s recovery timeline remains uncertain.
In addition, the absence of Cristian Romero, suspended after a red card, and Yves Bissouma’s unavailability due to accumulated 5th yellow cards have really magnified Tottenham’s defensive problems.
With key players like Richarlison, Solomon, Sessegnon, and Perisic already unavailable due to injuries, Ange Postecoglou will have to field make-shift players to cover for those unavailable.
In particular at the back where they will be without their two best centre-backs in Romero and de Ven.
And with no such backup options available, Ange started Eric Dier and Ben Davies at the back against Wolves with young defender Ashley Phillips named on the bench.
However, latest report claims that the 18-year-old has picked up an injury while on international duty as well.
According to Lilywhite Rose, the summer signing came off with an injury during England Under-19’s match against Mexico making him unavailable for selection for the upcoming match on the weekend.

This would come as a big blow for Ange who is already working with a very thin squad. The mounting injury concerns have stretched their defensive resources to the maximum posing a challenge for games ahead.
Spurs have now lost back to back games and the manager will be hoping to bounce back with a win this weekend but the players will need to be at their best to beat a very strong Aston Villa side.
