Modrić Back To Spurs Makes No Sense Whatsoever

By The Boy -

The fact that it is Marca that are bringing this news comes as no surprise. As we all learned during the sale of Gareth Bale, this is a media outlet light on shame and heavy on bias in favour of Real Madrid, and it is no great leap to suggest that this is precisely the sort of playful joke we might expect from them.

At 35, Luka Modrić is in the autumn of his footballing years, and a cursory glance at his appearances activity for the Spanish giants shows us that the Croatian has become increasingly familiar with the bench at the Bernabéu, failing to make the starting XI on 12 occasions and being subbed off a further 24 times – in the last two seasons.

Additionally, in that last 2 seasons, the yellow cards have built up so much that Luka has been suspended 3 times. Perhaps his ageing body is causing him to become frustrated?

Another red light are wages, the boy who quit Spurs in 2012 is still hauling in a reported £388,000 a week. Anyone questioning Bale’s value for money will have just as big a problem with this number.

We’ve had enough fairytales, thanks very much.

That is not fair Winks right now is better fit as an holding mid than Modrica as an AM. As i said in another post. Winks needs to pass the ball foward 5 more times per game and he will be ok.

You should given a timeout until you comeback to your senses.

There are historical examples of great players in the twilight of their careers who still had plenty to offer. I believe Modric could be that kind of player. On a free transfer, if the wage demands were realistic, he would provide experience plus a winning mentality, in an area of the pitch where we are light. Put another way, I would rather have a 35 year old Luca Modric in the centre of our midfield than a 23 year old Harry Winks!

Fair point, however Bale hasn’t been played in his strongest role and would also benefit from playing in a more attacking lineup which currently isn’t the set up of the team.

Besides, Modric would lessen game time for Tanguy, Gio and other players with a career ahead of them.

Also, I haven’t forgotten his recent admission that he was pushing hard for a move to Cheatski while he was still pulling on our shirt!

Great player but a Judas in the end, thanks for the memories Luka but you’re 35 and you betrayed us. No thanks…
