Tottenham’s South Korean starlet Min-hyuk Yang has revealed that he is joining Tottenham in December, one month earlier than scheduled.
The club signed the highly-talented youngster back in the summer and loaned him back to the South Korean club Gangwon FC, where he was expected to play until December before joining Spurs in January.
However, the player has himself confirmed that he has been requested to report earlier than initially planned, with him not flying out to London on December 16th.
Speaking to Yonhap News Agency, he said:
“I will leave (for England) on December 16. Tottenham wanted me to come over early. So I will take some time off before heading over. I will focus on getting acclimated as soon as possible.”
Min-hyuk Yang: Incredible season at Gangwon
Min-hyuk Yang could not have asked for a better way to end his time at the South Korean club, with him scoring the match winner in their final match of the season, helping the club finish in second place with 64 points, the highest position in club history.
He was one of their best players throughout the season, finishing the campaign with 12 goals and six assists.
His incredible performances garnered interest from several clubs including another top 6 Premier League club, but the club director confirmed that the player chose Spurs over others.
The director was quoted saying:
“I didn’t realise at the time was that Yang had his heart set on Spurs I even asked him if he wanted to go to that other club, but Yang straightly refused, saying he wanted to only join Spurs.”
This is not the first time an emerging talent has rejected another club in favour of Tottenham.
Previously, Lucas Bergvall rejected Barcelona and Radu Dragusin turned down Bayern Munich for the Lilywhites.
This speaks volume of the progress that has been made behind the scenes. It also shows just how big an effect Ange has had on convincing players to join his side.
