Marca Pouring Cold Water On Pochettino’s Latest Managerial Link

By The Boy -

Mauricio Pochettino has apparently been linked with the Athletic Bilbao hot seat, according to the Spanish outlet Marca, however the Argentinian’s name is described as “an illusion”, which an unkind person might say sums up most of the stories linking Poch to a return to top flight football. Ernesto Valverde and Marcelino García Toral are the other two candidates, and Marca favour Marcelino for his technical prowess.

Marca believe that Poch’s eyes are on Old Trafford and the possible/probable demise of Little Ole, which would certainly be in keeping with Mauricio if the tales of him declining offers are entirely true. It would also fit in with the Monday Night Football appearance.

Manchester United are currently fumbling about in 14th spot in the Premier League, and the causes for concern for all involved are plain to see. Having lost 3 of their first 7 domestic games, United supremo Ed Woodward will know that the chances of a comeback that includes a top four finish already look bleak. 10 points from a possible 21 is simply hopeless, utterly unacceptable for a side with the presence of Manchester United.

Is Poch the man for Woodward? Who knows, what is pretty much guaranteed, is that he couldn’t possibly be any worse than Ole.

Some good facts. Considering Maureen took over when the pandemic erupted, and half the squad (which was threadbare) was injured. No Kane and son for months. No striker at all. Tintin was here but his eyes, head and heart were already elsewhere.. Maureen has done extraordinary well if you put everything in to context. 👌

It’s tough not to laugh at Manure now.. Woodward blocked Maureens transfers. Sold players he wanted to keep. Bought players he didn’t want. They spent hundreds of millions whilst not backing Maureen.. Since Maureen left Woodward has spent hundreds of millions again, but Ole is yet to win anything. I don’t know if these were Oles targets, or Woodwards targets, but apart from Bruno Fernandes they have been poor across the board. Im suprised Ole is still there. It’s also suprising that the Glaziers haven’t sacked that chairman Woodward. He can’t be making them a profit, and they are massively underachieving.

This season after 8 games Jose is level with Klopp and ahead of Pep only behind Leicester & Villa in points per game. This time last year after 8 games we were 13pts behind Liverpool. We are heading in the right direction.Liverpool players are dropping like fly’s and losing VVD for the season might make the difference to the chasing pack, let’s hope our players come back safe & sound.

Taking Poch’s 2018/19 season of 38 games & his 12 games ( in decline ) of the 2019/20 season in total his last (50) games in charge of Spurs he averaged 1.70 points per game. Ole has been in charge of Utd for (45) games and his average points per game is 1.68. Just for the record only Klopp & Pep have more points per game since Jose took over at Spurs (34) games, who now has 1.82.
