Manager strongly linked with Spurs has already “given his word”, claims journalist

By Mehdi Gokal -

Dutch manager Arne Slot, who has been linked with the vacant position at Tottenham Hotspur, will not be taking the job, according to AD.nl columnist Hugo Borst (via relayed by Voetbal Primeur).

Slot, who has been making waves in the Dutch league with Feyenoord, has been attracting attention for his remarkable job at the helm of the Rotterdam-based club.

Feyenoord, currently on track to potentially win the league title for the first time in six years, having lost only one game throughout the season, has seen Slot’s stock rise in the football world.

Despite being considered one of the favorites for the Tottenham job, Borst wrote in his column that Slot seems to have “given his word” to Feyenoord’s general director that he will “remain as manager next year“.

Slot’s current contract with Feyenoord runs until 2025, and although he has a release clause in his contract that could be activated, it does not come into play until 2024. This has put an end to speculations about him taking over the reins at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Tottenham is not the only club that has been linked with Slot. According to The Times, Premier League clubs West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also eyeing him.

West Ham are looking for a replacement for David Moyes after a poor season, which has seen them in the midst of a relegation battle.

Similarly, Crystal Palace are in the hunt for a long-term replacement for recently sacked Patrick Vieira, with Roy Hodgson currently serving as interim manager and making an immediate impact with three consecutive wins since his return.

It remains to be seen whether Slot will leave Feyenoord this summer or not, and if he does, which club he will ultimately end up at.
