‘make it happen’: Attacker claims he asked his agent to ‘do everything’ to seal Spurs exit

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz completed a loan move to Spanish club Sevilla towards the end of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old striker needs to play regularly at this stage of his career to continue his development and he will hope to hold down a regular starting spot at the Spanish club.

The striker is highly rated around Europe and he has a big future ahead of him. He will be hoping to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons. The youngster has now revealed via Sportwitness that he urged his agent to do everything possible to secure a loan move to Sevilla when their interest in the player was formalised.

Veliz added that it is an honour for him to join a big club like Sevilla and he is looking forward to enjoying his time at the Spanish club.

“I am delighted with the institution, with the president and those who trusted me. I come to contribute the best of me, with goals, which characterizes any forward and give the best to the club,” he said.

“Thank God it happened, and it is an honor to be here. I have been training on the court for two weeks, with a ball, and next week I will join the group to be available to the coach.

“It is a very nice change and a very good experience, and I am very motivated.

“When my representative told me that there was the option of Sevilla, I told him that we should do everything to make it happen. It’s a huge club and I really wanted to come. Thank God I am here, and I am going to enjoy it to the fullest.”

Tottenham currently have Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Timo Werner at their disposal. Veliz would have struggled for regular gametime at North London club and the loan move is ideal for all parties.

The Premier League side will hope that the 20-year-old can continue his improvement with game time at the Spanish club and return as a better player at the end of the season.

There is no doubt that Veliz could be an important part of the Tottenham first-team squad next season if he can continue to grow as a footballer. Spurs need more depth in the attack and the Argentine could be a long-term prospect for them.
