Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
A report from Daily Mail claims that Fulham are ‘negotiating a deal’ with Tottenham for the Denmark international midfielder and the 28-year-old is ‘expected to leave’ Tottenham before the transfer window closes on Friday.
Apparently, Manchester United and keeping tabs on the player along with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. The La Liga club have reportedly re-opened discussions with Tottenham regarding the player.
It will be interesting to see where Hojbjerg ends up eventually.
He has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton but the arrival of Ange Postecoglou has cast doubts over his long-term future at the club.
There is a belief that the Denmark international does not fit Postecoglou’s free-flowing attacking system and therefore Tottenham are prepared to cash in on him.
There is no doubt that Hojbjerg would be a quality acquisition for Fulham if they can get the deal done. The London outfit are expected to part ways with Joao Palhinha and they will need to bring in a quality replacement for their key midfielder.
Hojbjerg is well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Craven Cottage. While some of the other clubs are hoping to sign the Denmark international on loan, Fulham are prepared to buy the player now rather than signing him on a temporary basis.
Spurs will probably prefer to sell the player permanently and that could give Fulham an edge in the transfer race.
