While the feel good factor of Tanguy NDonbele’s signing (the Frenchman incidently will be back in 9 days for to commence his pre-season on the 12th July) still resonates across the fan base, there may be more reasons to be cheerful on the horizon.
A source close to the club tells the Harry Hotspur blog that Daniel Levy is still pushing to get a deal for Giovani Lo Celso over the line, ASAP.
However, it’s looking increasingly likely as if Lo Celso may be done at the death.
This is not what Levy wants, as the ideal scenario is to shift Christian Eriksen and bring in a player that has a true desire to play for us in his stead.
The line I was given was that Poch and Levy are very much working well as a unit. Pochettino’s professionalism appears to being paid off in spades. Mauricio feels respected.
Our president’s willingness to back Mauricio Pochettino this window is as shocking as it is welcome, but during the NDombele negotiations, Levy was doing his upmost to convince Real Betis player’s agents that Tottenham were ready to cut a favourable deal.
Take away points: This deal ain’t over and Levy would prefer to get it done sooner rather than later. There is no brinkmanship at play on Tottenham’s side here.
I am but a humble vessle, m’lud
I’d deport him to anywhere that would take him. Does that count?
Good luck with that Cabspur because unless it’s a strap on you haven’t got a chance mate.
Barca are about to give them £120m to activate Griezmann’s buyout clause apparently. Atletico better hope they do! Either way, madness to spend so much on a 19 yr old with one season of pro football.
Was that man yellow, living in a cage and answering to the name Tweeddy-pie?
In a 2017 press conference Lyon President, Jean-Michael Aulas very carefully pronounced Ndombele’s name as ‘Ton-gee Dom-belee’. The President went on to confirm that Ndombele himself had informed him of the correct pronunciation
Athletico sign felix for £115m to make him 5th most expensive player ever.
You have to wonder how despite the fact the PL earns more than all the other top leagues by some margin none of the top 5 most expensive signings came to England? How can clubs like Athletico and Juve spend this type of money? Then ask how a team that has finished top 4 of the richest league in the world for 5yrs and made a decent fist of CL and their most expensive player ever is only half what athletico spent on one player?

When you read “Levy is keen to get a deal done early” ……… You kinda know it’s bollocks ….
Proof is in the pudding…nothing Levy has done in 20 years would make us believe otherwise, maybe now is the time….let’s give it a few weeks….
Just like to say I’m hoping the ‘septic tanks’ win the women’s world cup ,this is mainly due to the fact I want to stick my thing into at least a couple of them.
Thanks for the update. I honestly thought the credible transfer information we received from the transfer aficionados at sky sports news was correct saying that the deal was DEAD!? thank you for proving them wrong! Although it’s not that difficult.
Dier is regarded as a foreigner due to his Portuguese upbringing so is not part of the homegrown quota
If we can sell Tripps, Dier, Eriksen, Wanyama and Lamela thats the best part of £200M we can use to strengthen. Those players wont take us where we want to go
Getting him in will soften the blow losing CE, but also, as you say, will add that bit of spark the team desperately needs which CE has certainly lost…including a kick up Deli’s ars….if we get Sessy in and replace Tripps and keep Dier rather than Wanny to help the English contingent…
Whilst I am happy that we have N’Dombele and Lo Celso is probably a good thing, selling Tripper and Dier is going to reduce the English contingent at the club is a concern, especially if we don’t replace them with other English/ homegrown players. The Academy isn’t going to help us here unless it’s just for the head count. Because if the next big thing out of the Academy after Winks is Oliver Skipp we are in serious trouble. Troy Parrott sounds like he’s the mutt’s nuts but he’s probably too young to be playing in the 1st team this season.
It seems a bit weird when you seem to give Levy a bit of credit!!
But I quite like it.
Keeping Trippier and Dier is no good, because they are no good, English or not. If we bring in Aarons and Sess, it will redress the balance, Wanyama will be off also if we can get Lo Celso and Cabellos on loan – COYS! Need to keep Rose and Toby, Eriksen can go and be replaced by the younger, quicker Lo Celso
Totally agree with Eddie, need to keep Toby, even if it’s just for another season and he goes for free nxt, at the end of the day he didn’t cost an arm and a leg and we ain’t gone be rewarded big time if he goes this time either. On Satan, well done, it’s a good start, but that’s all it is, keep going now, because aside from anything else your keeping a good manager happy, the fan base happy, which is gonna mean more cash for your gang, and equally important, that sorry sack of shut down the road really look like their in the brown stuff. Kick them now and do real damage while the opportunity is there. Factor in the rent boys are in a sticky situation as well and utd don’t appear to be the draw they will be again, this is the perfect chance for spurs to press forward. Do it Daniel, I’ll take the first 100 pins out of the voodoo doll I got of you I promise
ball boy
I’ve always thought that Dier plays much better as a centre back.
Couldn’t Poch take him aside and try to make him see sense?
*lamex. For below.
When you read “Levy is keen to get a deal done early” ……… You kinda know it’s bollocks ….
Dire has that special gift of always being available for a pass. He’s always in space. When he receives the ball though he hardly does anything threatening with it. I’d sell him. It would break deles heart though. Lamella. Don’t know what id do with him. Good squad player but he’s so fragile. Would be nice for the dynamic GLC to have couple fellow countrymen here ifwhen he arrives. I’m hearing the danish boy we are eyeing won’t be another jansen. In poch I trust. COYS.
I’d try get carter vicks a loan move to leads. Let the mad dog try tune him up. (Can’t teach pace though) He can play (I’ve seen him enough at the same) but I don’t think he has the quality to play for us. Maybe he should try master another position. He’s still young
Yes. get in!
Man said to me earlier “me neva did know dat argie bwoy weh u ave is a bloody good right back” neither did I I thought! Maybe we don’t need a new one. Auirer foyth and kwp can fight it out. Davies should be sold. Sessy rose and verts can do the left back work. Tripp’s davies see ya.
Whilst the arrival of LoCelso would be more than welcome the loss of Toby would be too much to bear.I understand his 25M buyout clause if valid until two weeks before the window.
If someone was to take him at the eleventh hour,no way with Levy’s modus operandi would he secure an adequate replacement. That would leave us in deep shit as neither Sanchez or Foyth are good enough to own that CB berth.
Plus of course we need backup for Kane as Lowrent is gone and probably Jansen too.
Someone said N’Dombele could be on 200K/wk so Harry will be in line for an increase then.If Dele is back with his bird that will be his head fucked up for the season.
Tobes. Take the phat two year contract being offered to you son. Can head back to ajax after that. Tobes stay man.
I agree with eddie as well. To lose a player of Toby’s caliber on a free would normally be a disaster. & I’d obviously prefer deals worked out with him & verts if its possible, for the next few years (cb can play effectively later in their careers). With that said, if I had the choice of him next year or 25mil. I wouldnt take it. We’re still signing to replace. 1 more year of Sanchez & foyth learning under these two & getting better. 25 mil wont buy anything close to his talent. It’s not a great situation but take the hit, push on, & hopefully Sanchez can mostly fill the shoes next year. Either way it’s a gamble but I think lose 25mil for another year is the smarter one. Or just pay the guys. We cant lose both
