Live Blog: It’s Leeds Indoors

By The Boy -

Tottenham hosts Leeds United this Sunday tea time and from a Spurs perspective, this game will be all about goals (no laughing at the back) as neither side has been exactly prolific this season.

The confirmed Spurs line-up is Lloris; Tanganga, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Winks, Hojbjerg, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane, Son. The Spurs subs are Gollini, Doherty, Sanchez, Rodon, Sessegnon, Ndombele, Alli, Bergwijn and Gil.

An initial key talking point is that Dele Alli has failed in his fortnight away from international football to make any tangible progress with his new coach and finds himself on the bench for Tottenham today.

Leeds look set up to play a 4-5-1 formation, so perhaps with this in mind, Tottenham are really going to be expected to pile on the pressure.

I take a view that this is a game is vital to show fans that Conte can make a difference – whilst using the same players as the last guy.

How can I put this politely; you’re talking utter bollox. Lucas was involved in everything 2nd half and was main contributor to the revival.

Davies is a natural left footer so in a back 3 he has to start… u have to wonder what’s happened to Gill? Surely not another 30 million down the pan….

I’ll give any of our players the rest of the season with the new coaches to prove their worth or worthlessness under Conte’s stewardship.

On the plus side Davies seems to fit this system really well, and Reggie is starting to wake up again. Their combo on the left looks like it has potential too.

He’s the player he spoke the most about this week…and still didn’t trust him to even come on from the bench !

Will be fascinating if he either gets him going or gets Levy to take the hit and shift him. One scenario has to happen asap

Conte knows that this squad needs new additions. It is all about getting as many points as possible so that we are in shouting distance of the top four and then adding some real quality in January with another CB, a creative midfield playmaker, and another striker.

It’s a start for Conte, next he’ll work out the men he can trust – no Lo Celso or Ndombele speaks volumes.

There’s something I like about the 3 at the back, seems to suit our defence. The backline all had some decent attacking cameos today too.

This is what happens when you don’t refresh the squad for eighteen months. It’s a huge false economy because it will now cost a fortune to replace this rubbish.

Much of this dross goes back to when Poch urged the board to be brave and Levy did the opposite. It will take a long time to get back to where we were. I imagine that Conte is thanking his stars that he only signed an eighteen month contract.

Moura looks the only player to beat a man one on one frequently: good, this is what we need against the one to one marking of Leeds…

Moura’s decision making once he’s made space is awful and he keeps giving away the ball…

legoverlass

We have no midfield. No transition and we have a backline of Dier, Davies, and Tanganga whose distribution is poor on most occasions. It is no surprise. No shots on target yet again. Kane and Son falling deep to get the ball. No pressing. They sat off every Leeds player and allowed them to score. The reality is this is a poor squad and until that changes nothing will change.

Our main creative forces in midfield should be Lo Celso and Ndombele. One only gets fit for international breaks, while the other can’t seem to lay off the cake frosting.

Making it too easy. They’re going man for man all over the pitch, which is what they always do, and we have no answer other than to pass it back and then hoof it to nobody in particular. Zero creativity apart from Kane sometimes dropping deep. Other than that, it’s mostly aimless 20-yard runs by Moura, Son and Reg that usually end in loss of possession.

Which one is the home team again?

We look rotten! What’s with the decision making in attack?

Why are we always returning to trying to thread a needle in the middle when we’ve successfully freed up acres of green for the wing backs already through good play?

So strange. Conte needs to spell it out to these dunderheads.
