“Levy will be licking his lips” These Fans Love Canal+ Tipping Spurs To Land Luis Campos

By The Boy -

For those wondering what all the fuss over Luis Campos might be about, here are a few examples of Luis Campos’ transfer successes: Martial – bought €5m; sold €60m Bakayoko – €8m; €40m Fabinho – €6m; €45m Lemar – €4m; €70m Silva – €16m; €50m Mendy – €37m; €57m Pepe – €10m; €80m.

Daniel Levy will view a list such as this to convince himself that water can be turned into wine. In most instances, Luis Campo would have covered his annual salary in just one transaction. These deals tell us that the Tottenham business model could work, IF it were being implemented by someone who knew what they were doing.

When we were kings

The key to this mooted move might be the strong relationship that exists between José Mourinho and Luis Campos. However, that was the case with Mauricio Pochettino and Paul Mitchell, and look how that ended – in a 16-month notice period being served out.

Personally, I can’t stop looking at that list either. There are no guarantees in life, but one thing is for certain. If Spurs don’t break the cycle of buying clowns like Clinton Cards and Georges No’Cluedo, then nothing will change.

Campos could be the messiah, and I should know, I’ve worshipped a few. Arnesen, Comolli, Baldini, Mitchell. You can never guarantee that every player will turn out well. Modric, one of the best buys we have had was bought by Comolli, who also brought in Bentley! What I will state though, is that I trust anyone to recommend players other than Levy.

If that were true he’d never own up to it.

Leopards and spots. You can make all the
recommendations you want but if the default move is to sign the cheapest instead of the best, you end up with, N’Koudou, N’jie, Fazio, Chiriches, and all the rest of the third rate. Maybe things will change, we can only hope. The cobbler should stick to his last. Leave the football matters to people that know what they are doing like Mourinho and this man Campos.

You have a very good point. I’m hoping this move is a recognition by Levy that he can’t do this job and he messed up with Mitchell. You never know!

But I thought we got all proceeds from players to reinvest? Hence the Net transfer spend is level zero or a bit higher. If we didn’t get the proceeds from selling players to buy new ones, wouldn’t we have a massive negative net transfer spend?

Don’t get me wrong I’m not defending Levy here – he has a lot to answer for. But I think the transfer strategy Harry is referring to is the “self sustaining” one – ie. transfers in and out take care of themselves long term. As far as I’m aware that has been the case for a number of years.

I can’t see how this will help us.
We find a player who turns out to be good.
Levy sells for profit before we get a chance to win anything.
Profit not re invested into the playing squad.

Business as usual.

He is somebody we desperately need but why would he go to Spurs to work for a man who never listens. It ended badly for Paul Mitchell and it never ends well for anyone who works for Levy.
