Levy wants ‘important name’ to manage Tottenham, narrows ‘preference’ down to two names

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur recently parted ways with manager Antonio Conte after a series of poor performances and the Italian manager’s public outburst.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason is currently in charge as the caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Club chairman Daniel Levy is looking to bring in a quality replacement for Conte and a report from Calciomercato claims that Levy wants an ‘important name’ to manage the club next season. The report further states that the club chairman has already narrowed down his ‘preference’ to two names – Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann.

Enrique is currently without a job after being relieved of his duties as the manager of the Spanish national team. Spain had a mediocre World Cup campaign under his management.

However, Enrique remains a top-quality manager who has won league titles and a Champions League trophy in his career.

On the other hand, Julian Nagelsmann was recently sacked by Bayern Munich. The 35-year-old German manager has won a league title with Bayern Munich and a couple of domestic trophies as well.

Both managers can prove to be exciting acquisitions for Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal across the line.

Tottenham must get their managerial appointment right if they want to compete at the highest level next season. On top of that, they are facing a fight to hold on to star striker Harry Kane.

The England international will want to gauge the ambitions of the club before committing his future to Tottenham. Levy must look to bring in a top-class manager who can convince Kane that Tottenham is the right place for him to challenge for trophies.
