Levy To Get His Comeuppance In Champions League?

My thanks to our own Ronan

If this historic opportunity gets blown there will be only one place to justly point the finger: the entity who failed to secure reinforcements across an entire summer, even when it was clear most of the first XI would be embarking on a new season having had no rest.

The same element who in January traded in Dembele for some buttons in the white heat of a top 4 war and Champions League campaign, again securing no replacement.

In light of those gross derelictions, this revelation in the Independent yesterday really p*ssed me off:

“But the Winks situation is even more important. That long run of games he played has led to a stress injury in his hip, from overwork. The issue is that this is not a conventional muscle injury that will heal on a conventional timeframe. For now at least, it is a problem that needs to be managed.”

Independent

A rare serviceable academy product, with known injury issues, and his long term fitness has been risked through Poch having to play him non-stop.

His inevitable collapse now necessitating that the likes of Dele and Rose be played in unaccustomed roles in giant games.

Against every odd, Poch and the lads find themselves on the brink of something historic.

If they fall just short they should not be dug out. They have already far exceeded every reasonable expectation under ludicrous circumstances.

Rather, it would be time to reflect again upon catastrophic off-field decisions stretching back over a year.

Upon a 3 foot pug’s dangler who did everything he could to hamstring and handicap the team over the last year.

There is nothing new or remotely controversial in suggesting levy’s transfer activities have weakened rather than strengthened the team over the past year. It is just a statement of bald reality. Check what Kane, Hugo and Rose have said on the need to strengthen and progress; what poch said about his conversation with levy after the Anfield game a few weeks ago; or consider the extreme punishment the football authorities chose to inflict on Chelsea for their transgressions. Poch and the lads have had the same punishment inflicted on them as reward for achieving miracles for enic.

Strawmanning eh? Not jumping the shark or some other term you learned?
Well here is the reality…I think they should have tried to add one or two on top of what they have. For various reasons they didn’t and as an adult I can get over that.
My post was before tonights game was concluded, and before the result you could say the season was good since we are hitting our current target as a club of attaining top 4 whilst competing hard in the CL, and the amount of ‘bolstering’ required to catch the top two would have meant quite an overhaul in the end. I feel I may need to repeat that part as it will probably slip through the cracks….
We didn’t necessarily need more up until that point unless it would have been to catch the top two and DOING THAT WOULD REQUIRE MAJOR INVESTMENT!!!!!!

So whilst it is easy to say we should woulda coulda done whatever, and the lack of bolstering MAY cost us, but from what I know the tie is over two legs and we are not done YET. Here we have the mentality that PRIOR to the game the shortage of players means that the CLUB CHAIRMAN gets his comeuppance, so we can be gleeful that all along the ones who said we would fail due to shortages were right.
There is, or maybe not time for all that after, but pre-empting it as if that is the best outcome is just disgusting, but I expect no different here.
Hope that’s cleared that up.
I’m strawmanning and you’re a mantra repeater from a would be journo the like of which would try to sabotage England before the World Cup. Scum.
Oh and as you didn’t pay attention, I did give the option for SOME business in the summer aswell as an overhaul to win the league that the ‘fans’ would have loved. Sell Sissoko (our 2nd best player this year) and spend 50m on Kovacic who we were all dreaming of, and a striker. We may have done that and I can assure you we would not be in a better position.
So enjoy the larger world of a Spurs defeat, whinge and moan and pretend you know how to run a top football club better than Daniel Levy 😀

You’re strawmaning in defence of the indefensible. Nobody is demanding an “overhauli the first team with unlimited budgets.” But if you don’t bolster a core who played right through last summer and then sell Dembele midseason, players will get overplayed, then injured,, and you end up with the threadbare options poch now has at the sharp end of the season. It shouldn’t need pointing out anymore, the evidence is right there in front of you.

Yep if we had replaced Sissoko with Kovacic at a cost of £50 million. Bought whoever scored a few goals at the World Cup and we would DEFINITELY have 22 more points. Or were you thinking overhaul of the first team with unlimited budgets and stuff?
Anyway in reply to the original comment this site will not lighten as it’s a place to exist in the world of Tottenham failure that is only made smaller with anything positive. Don’t worry though as it’s not credible and only an audition to mimic the UK’s gutter press. Anyone who comes out with an article titled like this on the day of a CL SF should be strung up.

We’re 3rd, 21 points behind 1st. We bought no one during 2 windows. We’re a walking miracle. Imagine if the squad was invested in to the club’s full potential.

If we get beat Levy won’t see it as comeuppance. Semi-final of Cl and top 4 is grand and dandy for Levy and in his eyes improvement on last year. Getting this far only stands to reaffirm that his frugal approach to all things football is the way forward.

I don’t disagree with the lack of squad depth but PLEASE can this website lighten up a little?! We might get blown away but we’ve avoided Barca and Liverpool, we’re in the semis of the top European trophy for the first time in 57 years and close to securing 3rd behind the two best PL teams for years – can’t some people just try to enjoy the moment?
