“Levy masterclass” “A wonderful bit of scouting” Many fans react to quite possibly the story of the day

Football Insider has this morning broken the news that Tottenham won’t be taking up the option to buy Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius. This is big news, as it confirms that we will be back to square one on our hunt for someone to rotate with Harry Kane. Fans have been discussing the story on social media…

The Brazilian has struggled to gain meaningful minutes at Spurs, racking up just 168-minutes in the Premier League from his 7 appearances; 6 of which came from the bench. Carlos fared better in the Europa League notching up 465-minutes.

My personal take on Carlos is that as with Gedson Fernandes, this attempted move was a bridge too far for both players. This is subjective and there will be some that believe the boy has a big future. The reality will always trump perception. At £38million, it is difficult to believe that Tottenham couldn’t find a better player – however – that’s only if Levy is actually prepared to spend £38million. Anyone can wander around taking players on approval – only to then return them.

I thought he was 19 or 20 to begin with, possible promise if that was the case, but at 25 this apparently is his peak, so no thanks.

Vinny has not shown enough in his time here.As for the alleged 45M fee that is an absolute joke for hime and in the present climate.

No get someone else in more proven for less money.

What is it Hitchens does again?

Scouting is non existent. I could do a better job sitting at home, and I don’t even watch football anymore. There’s so much exciting talent out there.

Any second striker we buy will always end up on the perennial scrap heap. They’re not all poor. We make them poor. We buy or loan them then rarely play them then when we do and they don’t perform we call them out as cr*p.

Why won’t some people give levy a chance at the new place? We’ve only been in there for 5 mins during a pandemic. No one knows how levy is gonna operate there. Give the man a chance. All the stuff about old lane levy means nothing to me. New lane levy gonna spend when the money starts to roll back in, I’m certain of it. Give levy&José some time
