Levy considering early contract termination of out of favour Tottenham player

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering an early contract termination for veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, as per the latest from Football Insider.

The move aims to relieve the club of Lloris’ wages and resolve the situation that has seen the player sidelined for the season.

During the summer, Lloris openly expressed his desire to part ways with Tottenham, attracting interest from several clubs, including Al-Hilal, Nice, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Lazio. Despite this interest, negotiations failed, leaving Lloris sidelined, yet to make an appearance this season.

Earlier this season, manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed Lloris’s exclusion from the final squad registration Instead, new signing Guglielmo Vicario has come in and been absolutely brilliant between the sticks.

However, as per a recent report, Lloris had anticipated a free transfer a year before his contract’s end, but Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy, sought a transfer fee, causing frustration and a strained relationship between the player and the club.

But as per the latest from Football Insider, the club are now ‘keen to terminate’ his contract and are keen to agree to pay the goalkeeper off to get his wages off the books. Lloris is desperate for a move away and would welcome this decision by the club.

During his 11 years in London, he has made 444 appearances and kept 151 clean sheets.

Despite a dip in form over the past couple of seasons, Hugo Lloris is regarded as a club legend by the Tottenham faithful.

Moreover, despite being out of the limelight this season, Lloris has played a supportive role behind the scenes, aiding Vicario in settling into the club, as revealed by the Italian goalkeeper himself.
