A twist in the tale?
The Daily Mail believed that Daniel Levy has identified Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe as the man to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
I can appreciate the logic, however Howe is just latest flavour of the month – except he’s the flavour of many months ago.
The Cherries are floating about to no good purpose in 11th spot and this is the wünderkind to provide hope – after all hope is lost?
What we’re poised for here is a state of perpetual milking of fans based upon some vague notion that eventually ‘something’ will make us into a winning club.
A fairytale, basically.
Pochettino is on borrowed time as it is – how many seasons is he going to put up with being asked, ‘when are you going to win a trophy?’
Nobody in their right mind would pluck Eddie from the relative obscurity of Bournemouth, his CV is even slimmer than Mauricio’s.
In a normal business environment, Levy wouldn’t be able to survive the departure of Poch.
Premier League football isn’t a normal business environment.
Wait…..? Isn’t it that already….?
Yippeee!!
We won something at least!
Even though Harry didn’t take the job or wasnt even offered it.
If Poch goes THFC will formally cease trading as a football club and become a weird religious cult for people who are scared of their won shadows
The appointment of Solskjear tells me Fergie maybe isn’t as incapacitated as people think and through Mike Phelan could be an influence still, otherwise the choice is bizarre. He was awful at Cardiff and I don’t think he pulled up trees at Molde. Its temping but still odd.
Next month offers a final opportunity to enic to demonstrate to poch they are interested in winning trophies and in preventing their investment from cratering.
Allow it to pass and it requires little imagination to forsee how “the project” unfolds .. Spring 2028 and Eddie’s furious barks echo around a half-empty arena as a 33-year old Carter-Vickers is embarrassed for Everton’s fourth. Shouts audible even to staff in the cheese room and Daniel levy suite. Heard by everybody but a small distracted figure who has just suffered a panic attack at the sight of an incoming call from Goldman Sachs.
For one month more the ball remains in Joe’s Padel Tennis court
Maureen being sacked is Levys worst nightmare. I feel another lunch is needed to spice things up. Yes Poch has won fak all but given the resources man utd have it won’t be long before he does.
I haven’t heard what Maurice has said but the news is he hasn’t ruled it out. As we know, it doesn’t matter who comes in, Howe or anyone, under these owners nobody can achieve anything. This is the Utd job not the England job, I hope the people who gave Redknapp stick will be consistent if Poch jumps ship.
The usually reliable Dave Hytner has also indulged in some clickbait about this. All he did was not comment apart from passing on commiserations to Jose. Far less eyelash fluttering than he did for Madrid then.
He’s not an idiot and he’s not going to publicly proclaim his undying commitment to us, not when he’s being regularly messed about on transfers etc.
Unless Levy has a brain transplant and starts spending proper money on proper players, Poch will he gone one way or another by the end of the first full season in the new stadium. That’s the sad truth.
It’s all part of the bigger picture , just get behind it , enjoy the ride , we’re growing ………
Levy: Ask Me Howe Much
The man who put profit into profiterole and has the fastest filling pints in North London will be looking to maximise the pounds on MP’s departure and minimise the outlay on his replacement. He’ll probably put it out to tender – lowest bid wins.
Howe is a natural choice for the media to pick – small budget, limited success
I’d prefer Hughton – small budget, limited success, big heart!
