“Levy-19” “Should be sacked” Vitriol Aimed At Spurs’ Supremo By Some Gets Really Nasty

By The Boy -

The Daily Mail’s latest piece on the activity at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club would appear to have lifted the lid on another awkward piece of public relations.

The claim made by Sami Mokbel for the Daily Mail is that Mauricio Pochettino is being pursued for a pay cut, despite being to all intents and purposes, no longer being a part of club operations.

Mokbel understands that THFC has reached out to Pochettino, whom the club fired last year, in order to discuss trimming the existing £8.5million reparations being paid to the Argentine.

What is curious here, is the assertion that Tottenham CEO Daniel Levy agreed to “continue paying the former manager’s wages until he found a new job.”

Perhaps it is true but does that constitute enough to place Poch as being technically on the payroll? The former coach is now surely no more than an outgoing expense – which is something a tad different, no?

Whatever the truth is, what is clear, is that Daniel Levy’s Teflon coating would appear to be peeling away, of late.

Saying spending ‘doesn’t bring success’ is like saying laying bricks doesn’t build houses. It just depends on who’s laying the bricks…

No-one is going to sack Levy except Levy himself.

Firstly as I’ve discussed previously, from Joe’s point of view he’s blowing it away; making money hand over fist, building a tremendous asset base and a variety of income streams and any cold, hard business decisions (for which read tight-fisted bastardry) are in an arena that Joe clearly doesn’t care a jot about. If there’s any fall-out well Levy is the lightning rod and he can earn his 29.9%.

The only path out is that enough pressure is brought to bear, that Levy’s level of discomfort makes him decide to go: that level will have to be very high though to get through the sheer hide that this Dickensian landlord has got.

Perhaps we should simply give up on the false promises, the false dawns, the false horizons, the false hopes and the maybe even the false teeth and wait for Poch to pick a club and switch allegiance.

Perhaps we should all become Yanited, we might immediately get Harry Kane on board and who knows who else. I mean we qualify by virtue of not living anywhere near Manchester, (tho’ dropping a few IQ dozen points is a bit worrying). But instead of all the stress and anger, the disappointments and despair we can just spend each week-end photosynthesizing in front of the telly, content in the knowledge that we can articulate at least one word (Yanited) that has more than two syllables.

But no, the path was set many years ago…. I blame Jimmy Greaves, it was his fault I signed on…..I wonder what he would say if he could?

They’re billionaire money people man. Max greed. Expect no less from low risk greed merchants especially. People need to get their heads around that. Not wanting to pay the low payed workers. That should tell you all you need to know. No loyalty/heart in a pound note. Its business nothing personal. Cold cold cold people.

I’m not sure it’s that simple mate. These plans and businesses tend to have prior agreements. Also shareholder agreements are made. So it depends what deals etc been put in place. Maybe its written in the paperwork that he has to sell if he doesnt hit targets. Maybe there is no such clause because they are also gay partners who love each other very much..who knows? Sick of the set up. Levy needs to take a large step back from the footballing side and focus on the finance side. Sick of him buying rubbish or noone at all. Get scouts and a director in and let them work towards Maureens targets. Competent men who get the job done.

This is what we all want to know.. But don’t… Jamie redknapp claims baldy treated him like dirt and fell out with loads of other players when he was with us.

The question is. if levy owned all of Tottenham would he spend more on the team? Under Joe he does what he’s told. If he rebelled and didn’t toe the line would Joe sack him. Yes I reckon. Dunno for sure obviously though

29.9% I believe, so Joe Lewis could sack him as he is the largest shareholder In Enic.

It’s a dictatorship, a hopeless investment vehicle with no on pitch ambition whatsoever. Just so long as the faithful turn up, especially the ones who actually pay for their tickets…

Perhaps the confusion is over Levy paying Poch his compensation over a period rather than a lump sum? That way Poch has to stick to things no disclosure agreements, and not taking another job within a given time frame.

It’s what Levy does, drip drip payments for everything.

Poch will take the Utd job eventually and those hopeless thickos who slag him off and praise Levy will be covered head to toe in egg. Poch will be graceful, he loved the club but Levy destroyed all hope of kicking on.

Jose gone by next summer, probably before as he won’t put up with being made to look stupid by the Levy $hite machine…

Yes but under the terms of a contract he is guaranteed payment so the club has a choice: pay up the rest of his contract there and then, or carry on paying him for the length of his contract or until he finds other employment. The latter is better for the club.

True, spending does not guarantee success, Everton and West Ham being good examples, but not spending absolutely guarantees you will have no success.

Not sure where but I have seen this reported elsewhere. Thought it was unusual to still pay him, it’s not gardening leave, he was defenestrated.

So many people say Levy should be sacked.. But he owns nearly half of enic.. So sacking himself is never going to happen.. What grates me amidst this chaos is that Levy is now a billionaire.. The world is dying, our teams fallen apart, and scrooge flies into forbes billionaires rich list…. Of course spending doesn’t guarentee success we are all told by Dr Evil, it is the stadium that will propel us to the next level! … No Daniel, Kane and Poch propelled us to the next level. And it’s all destroyed for the love of money. When Levy dies he can’t take his billions with him, but he will forever leave his legacy.. Like the bog of eternal stench.

The idea of cutting Poch’s pay is comical though. Levy hang your head in shame.

DannyG

It’s simple: he’s being paid until he gets a new job so that he’s not out of pocket. Why should managers be paid the remainder of their contract up front so they are free to take another job immediately and get paid double?!

When he signed a contract we said you’ll be paid X amount for X time. I don’t see why we are obliged to pay him more than we would had he still been in a job. That’s crazy.

I don’t believe Poch is being paid indefinitely.

I do believe Sami is making stuff up as he goes along.

I find this story confusing, paid until he finds another job, but supposedly not allowed to take another Premier League job this season. He had a contract, pay him what he is owed. If true the sheer effrontery of this is mind boggling.

actually, I think the money from his book went straight to charity for example …Levy is overpaid already (compared to his peers) so not really much of a pay cut is it.

This is a hunch, but Poch seems more likely to be the person who gives “a little back”, whether thats in the UK or his home town, I’m sure Levy gives very little of his “own” wealth away…

Pay your staff and pay Poch what he’s owed, you insufferable, irritating and micromanaging little £astard…
