Leicester City are just one case of Covid away from grounds to postpone Spurs clash

By The Boy -

Tomorrow’s much-anticipated bug game against the Foxes could feasibly be rescheduled, for a second time. The Premier League’s recent controversial decision to amend its own terms and conditions around the acceptable grounds for postponement procedures has now left the door open for clubs like Leicester City (again). City, of course, has already seen one game postponed due to a ‘mix’ of Covid and ‘other’ issues.

The Foxes’ injury list is quite a concern, with Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, Jamie Vardy, and Ricardo Barbosa Pereira all ruled out for the Spurs’ clash.

Plus, Boubakary Soumare, Timothy Castagne, Luke Thomas, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Justin, Ryan Bertrand, Caglar Soyuncu, and Patson Daka are all only just returning from injury.

Worse yet, Kelechi Iheanacho, Nampalys Mendy, Daniel Amartey, and Wilfred Ndidi are all absent, away at the African Cup Of Nations.

I take a view that all the above players’ situations are simply part and parcel of football. There are no extraordinary circumstances to address here. However, based upon the ruling made after Arsenal successfully requested to postpone our recent fixture with them, the opportunity to make a viable appeal, exits.

Perhaps you should look elsewhere other than MSM for your information. There are many eminent scientists who call it endemic. Latest figures from the ONS also show its endemic. Quoting the BBC who report nothing with context only fear and scaremongering just like those at Sky isn’t a reliable source of information.

It’s a difficult situation because many injured and returning from injury could have been injured because of covid…Some recover quickly but others will have weak bodies/muscles/joints, and some will suffer from long covid…… Arteta didn’t need to postpone. He had one player with covid out. He had more than enough from his first squad, even loaning out 2 players last week. It was snakelike, cheat like. Arteta is a wet fish, he almost curled up in to a ball when Hojberg confronted him last time out.. I don’t know Brendan but he comes across as honest. I don’t think he would try and postpone because of 1 player. Same as Conte wouldn’t. He may be of the opinion that some of his players are injured because of their covid outbreak the other week, but still I think he’d just get on with it…

The world health organisation has been clear the world is a long way off describing covid as endemic. “It is still a pandemic and an acute emergency” (Dr Groppelli on the BBC three days ago).

Stop peddling wrong information Easty it’s foolish and ignorant.

Clubs like Arsenal are clearly taking advantage of the rule. The rules need to be tightened up and postponed games should be covid related only.

If an athlete picks up an injury or say a racing driver or motorcycle racer during a season, then they may miss a round or several rounds and lose points. They can’t say to their other 29 competitors “ can we halt the season until I’m fit please?”

I’ve seen motorcycle racers gaffer tape their broken hand to the handlebars so they can at least ride and continue to pick up points during a season! Sorry, but top level footballers and the clubs are full of pampered, overpaid and out of touch individuals. The league governance is becoming increasingly woke and box-ticking seems to be all they care about. Protecting their ‘brand’? Damaging it more like…

Which is why football, as great a sport it is, really lacks a lot of sporting integrity at the top level these days.

Shall we just cancel the season? Clubs can probably only play their strongest 11 for 50% of the season on average. Can’t play games without your strongest team available? Never heard such garbage.

The FA, as with the government, need to stop this madness now. Covid is endemic and no longer in need of these pointless restrictions .

So the rule of thumb now is … We don’t have our best team available so we want to cancel our games until we do.

Footballs dead…

Agreed – based on the Woolwich decision they’d have a good case. EPL have made a rod for their own back.

Blimey. I mean if you’re sitting in their shoes you’d 100% be faxing over that application this afternoon. (yes I am assuming the Premier League still use a fax machine)
