Tottenham’s good start to the season needs protecting, and with any luck, it will have dawned upon Daniel Levy that muddling through, and hoping that players can either make a swift return from injury – or not get injured at all is no strategy at all.
Equally, our club needs to embrace the idea that he has players in his squad now who really have some fight in them, and cards also need to be taken into consideration.
Eric Dier and Ben Davies are both second or third-choice picks these days unless Postecoglou’s hand is forced, of course.
Beyond all this, there’s a distinct chance that Spurs could qualify for European football next season, so, there are no two ways about it, the pressure is on.
Football Transfers has mentioned a few players that might be of interest to Tottenham, and one option is the Everton defender, Jarrad Branthwaite.
While Braithwaite is relatively young, he’s specifically mentioned on The Ben Foster Podcast, in a favourable light by teammate James Tarkowski.
“He’s a physical beast. I trust that I can leave him one-on-one in the channel because he’s so quick. I think he might be our quickest player. People try and run him down the line, I think Antonio tried to run him, and we know Antonio is a monster himself, and Jarrad just dealt with him down the line, and I was like fair enough, I’ll let you deal with it!”
Regrettably, the bad news is that Jarrad is under contract until 2027 and Everton allegedly values the 21-year-old at some £75million.
That said, Everton’s future is far from certain, and Jarrad’s desire to remain on Merseyside may be sorely tested come the end of the season.
