According to a recent report from Calciomercato, AS Roma have accepted a bid from AFC Bournemouth for the transfer of Nicolo Zaniolo, but the young forward has other plans for his move this month.
As per Calciomercato, Zaniolo, who has been a target for Tottenham Hotspur, has made it clear that he only wants to join an elite-calibre club if he leaves the Stadio Olimpico. AC Milan are reportedly his priority destination, as he is not interested in joining a club in the midst of a relegation battle in the Premier League.
The only issue, however, is that AC Milan remains far from offering Roma’s asking price for Zaniolo’s transfer. Technical director Paolo Maldini has only proposed a loan move with a €28m obligation to buy clause, which is not enough to convince Roma’s management.
Meanwhile, according to TuttoMercatoWEB, Bournemouth tabled a €35m bid, which included an upfront €28m plus €7m in add-ons and 10% of any future fee. But the player is not interested in a move.
And with Zaniolo’s unwillingness to join Bournemouth, Tottenham may still hold a glimmer of hope, as they remain keen on securing the transfer of the Roma ace as per Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Seth.
Antonio Conte is said to be interested in signing the midfielder, and in fact, it was reported a few days ago that the player has agreed personal terms with the club.
However, with the transfer window coming to a close, it remains to be seen if a deal can be reached for Zaniolo to join either Milan or Tottenham.
The young forward has proven to be a valuable asset for Roma, with Gabriele Marcotti calling him “supremely gifted” when fit.
It is clear that Zaniolo has a bright future ahead of him and whichever club is able to secure his signature will be getting a talented player.
