Latest report confirms Tottenham’s interest in Premier League star; Ange Postecoglou really likes him

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be strongly linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Spurs initially targeted the England international last year, even making a deadline-day bid in September, but the deal did not materialise.

They were expected to return for him in January but decided to wait until the end of the season to renew their interest.

The latest report has confirmed Tottenham’s interest in Conor Gallagher. According to the Athletic’s Transfer DealSheet, both Tottenham’s recruitment team and manager Ange Postecoglou like the player and view him as a valuable addition to their squad.

Gallagher is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, which expires in June of the following year.

With no renewal currently planned, this situation could pave the way for Spurs to sign the midfielder, particularly given Chelsea’s need to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Recent reports suggest that the Lilywhites is considering an early bid for Gallagher, potentially offering between £30-£40 million. This approach leverages the Blues’ need to raise funds for FFP compliance, providing Tottenham with a potential negotiating advantage.

Last season, Gallagher was a consistent presence in Mauricio Pochettino’s teamsheet, starting 37 out of 38 possible Premier League games and contributing with 5 goals and 7 assists

With the departure of Pochettino as the Blues’ head coach last month, the Cobham academy graduate might look to switch sides.

As the summer transfer window approaches, it will be intriguing to see how this long-going saga unfolds.

Spurs’ pursuit of Gallagher could intensify, specially if he remains unsigned to a new contract at Chelsea, making him a prime target for the North London outfit. The coming months will reveal whether the Lilywhites can finally land their long-pursued target.
