The latest report indicates that Tottenham Hotspur has intensified its interest in Leandro Trossard, a midfielder from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Brighton have made a habit of spotting talented players and selling them for a profit.
They most recently sold Marc Cucurella to Chelsea for £60 million, and now an interest in Trossard has begun to grow from other Premier League clubs.
There have been reports that Chelsea have been keeping an eye on Trossard’s performance earlier in the season and his agent has reportedly offered him to both Chelsea and Liverpool. And now Spurs seem to have joined the race to sign him too.
According to the Daily Mail, Antonio Conte is ‘interested’ in bringing in 28-year-old Leandro Trossard to the team during the January transfer window, as Trossard’s contract with Brighton is set to expire at the end of the season, making him potentially available for transfer.
Spurs are ‘keen’ on the 28-year-old, and their ‘interest has accelerated’ in recent days, according to sources.
But Brighton being aware of the interest will try and hold on to the player and according to sources, a move for Trossard is not expected to happen immediately, with a potential deal being more likely to happen later in the transfer window.
He has had an outstanding 2022/23 season, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists in 16 Premier League games, including a fantastic hattrick against Liverpool, earning him a lot of praise, with Rio Ferdinand calling him ‘unreal‘.
Trossard has already demonstrated his ability to perform well in the Premier League, as opposed to some other players who have been linked with moves to Tottenham, such as Tete and Marcus Edwards, who may still need to adapt and gain experience in the league.
Trossard will be able to make an immediate impact to the team and help improve Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four of the league.
