Latest report claims Tottenham are ‘keeping an eye’ on €50m rated La Liga star – United and Arsenal also keen

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘keeping an eye‘ on the situation of Barcelona’s talented young star, Ansu Fati, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Sports Witness).

Tottenham are joined by Manchester United, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich in their interest in the player.

The 20-year-old has struggled to break into the Barcelona starting lineup this season, starting just seven games.

Xavi, has publicly denied suggestions of Fati wanting to leave the club and has emphasized his trust in the young player, stating that he is a “spectacular asset” to the club and that he is working very well in training. Xavi also added that Fati is only 20 years old and needs time to develop, stating that “things will work out for him.”

He said:

“No, no, no… Things will work out for him.”

“We have to be patient. Ansu is a spectacular asset to the club. We trust him a lot, he is working very well. I am very happy with his tremendous mentality in training, but be patient.”

“He is 20 years old and needs time, like everyone else. Things will work out for him, now is not the time to talk about sales.”

Despite Xavi’s claims, the interest from Tottenham and other top clubs indicates the player’s talent and potential.

Tottenham’s interest in the €50m rated star aligns with their transfer strategy of investing in young, high-potential players with a potential resale value.

The club has a habit of not spending big money in the transfer window unless the player has a strong resale value.

This was the reason behind their decision to not sign 28-year-old Brighton star Leandro Trossard, who would have been an ideal signing for manager Conte.

While Xavi is confident that things will work out for Fati at Barcelona, only time will tell if the player will continue to develop at the Spanish club or if a move to a new club may be in his future.

With the involvement of super-agent Jorge Mendes who has a reputation of making big controversial moves, the situation is definitely one to keep an eye on in the coming months.
