Latest injury news comes as big boost for Tottenham ahead of the game against Everton.
Everton’s star midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is expected to be absent from the side’s away trip to north London this weekend.
The 30-year-old picked up a hamstring injury during the first half in the Toffees’ last Premier League match in a 2-0 victory over Burnley.
Initially, it was a precautionary measure taken by the Everton medical staff, although it led to his absence in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, which they lost 6-7 to Fulham in a penalty shootout.
Following the cup elimination, Everton manager Sean Dyche provided an update on Doucoure’s availability.
He stated the following when asked whether the midfielder could make it in time for the Tottenham game (via The Athletic):
“Probably not at the weekend (Doucoure will be available) but going forwards, we’re hopeful it settles down quickly.
“He’s super fit as you all know and in his experience and mine he’s a good healer, so we’re hopeful it settles down quickly.”
Sean Dyche’s side have been on a great form since their 10 point deduction, winning 5 of their last 6 Premier League games.
The absence of their top scorer will come as a huge boost for Tottenham.
Spurs have won their last two games and will hope to make it three in three but the game will not be an easy one.
