Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has been linked with a move away from the London club this summer.
It appears that Valencia are closing in on the capture of the 21-year-old Spanish winger on a loan deal.
The Spanish club’s manager Gennaro Gattuso has now hinted that Tottenham might be close to securing a new signing before letting the player leave.
Apparently, Spurs informed Valencia they will only let Gil leave if they can bring in a replacement.
Gattuso claims that the transfer is very close to completion which would imply that Spurs are very close to bringing in a replacement.
It will be interesting to see who comes in to replace the youngster this summer.
Gattuso said (via TMW): “For Bryan it’s done, Tottenham told us that 90-99% it is closed. two or three days, Spurs told us that before they let him go they must take a substitute. We are waiting for Tottenham to acquire a player in that role.”
Tottenham have been linked with the likes of Daniel James, Adama Traore and Anthony Gordon in recent weeks and all three players could prove to be quality additions for Antonio Conte.
Spurs will be hoping to challenge on all fronts this season and they have had an impressive transfer window so far. Bringing in another quality winger would certainly add to their depth and help them push the likes of Manchester City this season.
Tottenham showed immense improvement under Conte towards the end of last season and they have made a good start to the campaign so far.
Gil is a terrific player who may never be able to compete physically in the premier league, unfortunate but that’s the way it is. I’m not sure what sort of player we would be looking for as I’m not sure what Gil’s best position actually is. If we are bringing a player in please let it be someone English. Our inability to stay inside the foreign player limits is beyond a joke.
How do we go from being linked with Carrasco to dobbins like Traore and James???
I would lots of players at Spurs. Players better than Traore as well.
Would love Traore as spurs… Powering down the wing drawing 3 players with him .. exciting football , something we need instead of the bore fest we have at the moment.
Traore link is his agent talking, we have never made a bid and doubt we ever will. Dan James is number 28 on a long list of possibles surely. Both would be utterly pointless buys. No please.
Only Gordon from that list of three names would make any difference to our squad in a positive way.The other two are inconsistent and offer nothing we don’t already have.
The price could be a sticking point if it is the rumoured 60M,and Lampard has said that if he did go he would need to get somebody in,along with his other requirements.
So I don’t see it somehow.
