Kane forces pundit to eat his words after slamming the England captain before he scored

By Bruce Grove -

Harry Kane forced Jamie Carragher to eat his words after he urged Gareth Southgate to haul off the striker in England’s match against Germany yesterday.

The England captain has been in poor form at the Euros and had failed to find the back of the net in the group stages.

He was in similarly poor form in the first half and missed a glorious chance to open the scoring for the Three Lions before halftime.

It was the type of chance that Kane would normally score, but he frustratingly failed to hit the target.

England had been finding chances difficult against a very organised Germany side in the match and Carragher felt Kane wasn’t doing enough to remain on the pitch.

The former Liverpool defender tweeted ‘FFS! Stop talking about getting Kane into the game!!

‘He got to get himself into the game. Gareth needs to change him.’

Southgate kept faith with his striker and the Spurs hitman repaid that by scoring England’s second in a 2-0 win.

He had played an important role in the opener also as he laid the ball on to Jack Grealish who passed to Luke Shaw to assist the in-form Raheem Sterling.

Carragher is not exactly the most astute of pundits, in fact, in my opinion he is one of the worse and his ridiculous comments last night prove that.

JC was a breath of fresh hair when he first arrived on the punditry scene. He was honest and not afraid to speak his mind. He has become too mainstream now, moulded in to a robot pundit. After the spitting outrage, where he was more than lucky to keep his job, Sky could tell him to do whatever they wanted.

Pundit wise I listen to 5Live a lot and like Chris Waddle.

Keeps it simple and tells you something you didn’t know unlike the Lineker /Shearer school who wouldn’t get a hearing in the local pub.
