Report: European heavyweights to reignite their pursuit of Tottenham ace in the summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Despite strong links and interest for a move away in January, Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg chose to stay with the club for the rest of the season.

Various clubs, including Lyon and Juventus, expressed interest in acquiring the Danish midfielder last month. However, none of the potential suitors were able to meet Tottenham’s valuation.

Ultimately, Hojbjerg has had a change of heart and decided to reaffirm his commitment to Tottenham for the remainder of the campaign.

Nevertheless, recent reports indicate that Juventus continue to monitor the midfielder’s situation. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia), the Italian giants still have an eye on the midfielder for a potential summer move, although their primary target remains Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners.

With less than 18 months remaining on his current contract, which expires in June 2025, there have been no updates regarding a possible contract extension for Hojbjerg. Reports suggest that Tottenham do not intend to offer him a new deal.

Under Ange Postecoglou, the 28-year-old has seen himself fall down the pecking order, featuring in 22 league matches but starting only 6. He has primarily served as a substitute, often coming on in the latter stages of the game.

While Hojbjerg has chosen to stay for the time being, it seems probable that he will depart in the summer, with Juventus being considered a potential destination.
