Journo 180°: The Most Chilled Weeks Now Descend Into Poch’s Future Being Most Seriously Questioned

By The Boy -

Gripping times for Tottenham Hotspur football club obsessives, as conflicting reports about the Mauricio Pochettino’s future rebound across the Internet.

Just days ago, a vision of sweet calmness and contentment was painted by Football London‘s highly regarded Alasdair Gold.

Mr Gold has a privileged position amongst THFC bloggers, in that he has a Premier League press pass.

Mr Gold naturally gets to know club personnel along the way and will be seen as a personable, friendly face. Someone one might be able to confide in.

This quote very much looks like a confidence being shared.

However, there’s been a small avalanche of entirely conflicting information from both The Telegraph and ESPN who are generally regarded as your actual thoroughbred mainstream outlets by most people.

Today, Mr Gold has quite understandably returned to his club source for further clarification.

This clarification has produced a Journalistic 180°.

One would describe Liverpool as a calm club, presently. In an atmosphere such of such calm, are Fenway Sports discussing Klopp’s future?!

Of course, they are not.

A state of calm could never be vaguely equated with a discussion of a possible dismissal from post.

I have said all along Kane will go in summer unless we win PL or CL. I don’t think this changes that at all. Just makes it easier and less emotional for him. I just hope he tries until end of season.

Only inevitable within the culture of dysfunction ENIC and Levy have made their trademark.

Levy has appointment lots of bad managers and sacked lots of good ones…

ENIC are the ones that need to understand how important results are. If they did then perhaps they’d back the manager sufficiently….

That would suit Levy, take all the attention of him, and Mourinho is loved by the press for the stories he generates.

Just listening to some of Pochs statements about agendas in the dressing room and some of the self defeating things he did on the field, I think Poch’s heart wasn’t in it anymore. Playing Aurier again and again. Holding back Tanguy, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, never playing the same team twice. Playing Eriksen, dropping Verts. Weird substitutions, too late in a game to make a difference. All very peculiar. Maybe he wanted out, can’t blame him if he did.

Suppose they had made their minds up, why string it out. If they are to qualify for C L they need to start winning games now. The team weren’t playing for Poch overall, I’m sure Levy consulted Harry Kane, Hugo etc, to see what they thought, obviously the players had lost faith in Poch.

Absolutely.Top four finances was all that mattered,to be syphoned off into the ENIC coffers with the absolute minimum expenditure incurred.
The fans will realise eventually ,but it might take too long.

As Five Live alluded to the timing of the sacking was strange before the Sat derby.

At what point does this become reality to most fans….its clear as day they use fans money in a booming market to create and build a property portfolio – they have no interest in winning anything…time is a healer and it becomes the norm …not to me!!

True but perhaps it was a coded message by Poch that after years of unfulfilled promises which never materialised he was resigned to the fact that he would never receive significant financial backing from the Board.

James McKevitt

Think he meant that winning the Champions League was going to be as good as it gets at Spurs, without financial backing the Premier League was never a possibility.

James McKevitt

Nobody, not Guardiola, not Mourinho could have done a better job than Poch given the same finances. So farewell Mauricio, you restored pride in being a Spurs supporter in my case at least. I have supported them since 1967 and like us all there have been great times, great players, mostly Cup runs, never a real title challenger. I have seen some terrible teams and awful football, too much in fact. But Mauricio you were Bill Nicholson’s heir, but you weren’t backed, sadly, you and “we” deserved better. Thanks mate, and thanks to your staff for the great memories, you deserved better, but for you Poch the best is yet to come.

In this results driven game who ever takes over will be under instant pressure to deliver an exciting brand of football plus elusive silverware, otherwise it could all turn messy turn toxic in the stadium back to the revolving door of managers where Levy sacked 10 managers in 13 years!

After 5 years in charge of presiding over a team of nearly but not quite winners, nice guy, harsh but inevitable end to Poch’s reign when IMO he should have bowed out following the CL final.

James McKevitt

As for Kane, if he has any sense he’s off, and he won’t be alone. Fair play to Kyle Walker, the butt of many fans jokes, he was way ahead of the game, he saw through all the new destination/ shopping centre bull. Not so slow Kyle, he had the last laugh anyway.Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen and Toby and Verts, they’ve all realised they’re winning nothing with ENIC. So Harry for your own good mate, Go.

Levy needs someone to deflect attention from himself, so who better than Jose. The press would love it, and after a wins the fans fickle as usual would forget Poch.

The more I think about it Maureen until the end of the season could suit both parties.Whatever you think about him and his methods the main thing is he’s a proven winner.Plus for such a short time he would possibly work with what he has thus saving Levy lots of money.
He could even get us the FA cup before he rides off into the sunset.Happier days !

Do you think Kane will be happy with the news?If he needed convincing to go this could do the trick.Plus Poch would look to take him wherever he goes.I think Sonny would feel the same too.
I agree about Ten Hag though. He would work with young players.

Ok…I WANT ERIK TEN HAG. I wish Levy had just backed Poch. That said, even when flying high we had no plan B and over relient on one or two players. I think sacking Poch now opposed to end of season gives levy time to keep Kane and Son onside.

5Live saying Maureen favourite to take over, I will be flabbergasted if he does under the same financial regime inflicted on Poch. Maybe until the end of the season, keeping his face in the shop window, and achieving a brilliant fourth place finish and Champions League again. Would not touch us long term. It will be a cheapskate appointment long-term, but Mourinho would probably be be good for a lot of fans, and it would take the heat off Levy, so maybe I’m going to have my flabber gasted.
