There was a frisson of muffled hysteria this weekend surrounding the future of Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino. This might neatly explain the movement in the Next Permanent Tottenham Manager market.
While smart phones were a buzzin’ with tales of terror, “the truth” was that THFC was somewhat a less animated scene than was being rumoured.
Highly respected journalist Alasdair Gold has run an editorial piece which was clearly spoon-fed to him by the club.
After all this 100% inside info, indeed Mr Gold tells us, “…those who were most bewildered by it all seem to be those inside Tottenham Hotspur.”
Opinion: What’s concerns me here is, are that fans are supposed to draw succour from knowing that Poch and Levy’s offices are still geographically close to each other at Hotspur Way?
The pressure of the Premier League malaise will be grave and constant and it frankly beggars belief that the mood at Spurs would be in any manner less pressured. Let alone, “chilled”.
Our situation is merely on hold.
However, what’s worse is the suggestion that the January window will somehow act as a panacea.
Who might even vaguely believe this?
The issues with player contracts and the squad etc right now is complex and requires a nuanced, series of solutions.
January transfer windows across the board are generally muted affairs for most top flight sides, and Tottenham have solid for neither buying nor selling prolifically in the new year.
Toby and Jan must never play a prem league game again. They make an effort in the CL coz they have a chance of winning a medal. They don’t care about the prem (nothing to win there now)
Enic shareholders 😔
There is still time for the yiddos to rally. We can turn the ship around. Its now we will see who is worth their salt. Who is worth keeping or going. Signing dybala or bale or someone equivalent and a decent full back or 3 in jan would be a step in the right direction… And give lucas more than 10 minutes, give him 10 starts, against the weaker teams if needs be but the lad derserves more time
😁
No amount of spin is going to deflect from our current position. It is what it is, because of the mediocre performances we have served up this season and the unvarnished truth is that it is actually quite perilous.
The match this weekend is a pivotal moment in our season. Beat a dire West Ham outfit, in their annual cup final and the pressure eases. Lose and the pressure ratchets up to powder keg level. No team is ever ‘too good’ to go down, even a team that clearly, on paper, still possesses a ‘top six’ squad like ours.
This is no time for smooth talking, or trite platitudes, we need to roll our sleeves up and deliver a real performance. We need our best team on the field to do that, which means, play Winks, play Toby, play Jan and play Danny. It also means no place for Foyth or Aurier, either of whom is a disaster waiting to happen at RB and no place for Erikssen.
I hope Poch weathers the storm, but it is by no means guaranteed. This weekend therefore will tell us a lot about Poch’s ability currently to motivate the squad, having had two weeks to prepare for this game. We all hope for a greatly improved performance and a positive result, but based on the season so far I am not holding my breath.
‘a nuanced series of solutions’ LMFAO. If you have a losing trade then you have a ‘stop loss’ order placed at a price below which you absolutely refuse to hold that asset. Otherwise that trade/asset goes on to bleed your overall account. We have a saying, let your winners run and cut your losers early. To not have some version of this thinking in any business is suicidal. Naively waiting for the market to somehow turn in your favour and give you all your money back is the thinking of a child. It is essential to positive forward momentum that you know when to take the loss and move on. Levy as a CEO should have some glimmer of why this is so important. These contract situations have allowed rancour and division to permeate the ranks, he should have addressed them firmly in the Summer and had a point at which he was no longer prepared to go beyond and taken decisive action, even if that meant losing a few quid.
Daniel often walks into Pochs office just to fart.
The January transfer window which provides an opportunity to put things right? Yeah believe that if you will, that tells you all you need to know.
The earlier mooted Lo Celso arrival will provide us with the awaited messiah.Forgetting the top four proviso, would he even want to swap a relegation fight for us with a relegation fight with Betis?
There are still six weeks to go and more importantly the result against Wet Spam will tell us more.
Who is he “highly respected” by?
Any headline purporting to tell the “Real Truth of what’s happening behind the scenes” is, at best, supposition and at worst total bullsh*t.
