The central defense on the Tottenham Hotspur squad is where the north London club wants to upgrade this summer. There are various candidates to help strengthen, but the number one target is Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.
However, the 23-year-old reportedly doesn’t have any interest in leaving the Serie A side. Nonetheless, with Inter Milan keen on improving their squad and needing funds, they could be looking to sell a deal is possible.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold provided speculation into the saga as Spurs hope to reunite the Italian defender with his former manager Antonio Conte. The English football journalist wonders if Inter Milan pushing him out the door could cause Bastoni to reconsider his stance.
“[Inter Milan] need funds because they’re in a tough financial position, and Bastoni is one of their best chances of raising those funds, and he has just two years left on his contract, so unless he signs a new deal, this is the peak value they can get for him,” Gold said.
“The 23-year-old is happy at Inter at this point in his career, but I just wonder whether what’s going on at the club ends up pushing him towards the door.”
Gold adds that Conte and club chief Fabio Paratici like Bastoni, which fits what reports suggest that the Inter Milan man is their number one target. Yet, with the early days of summer, plenty can still occur, including Spurs looking at other options.
“His agent’s comments this week seemed to suggest that could be a possibility. It’s still very early days, though, and Spurs have other options, although both Conte and Paratici really like the big Inter defender,” Gold concluded.
“I think we need to get through the international period first, which makes it difficult to tie up deals, and players can’t fully focus on their decisions right now.”
Not only that but he played better at Newcastle than Spurs
Am just reading all these story until they get to “however” Arsenal and….” I take it that is the tag line for the fans bragging rights.Arteta still crowing about how he personally author the signing of the South Korean right back when they were in front Spurs for the first time in 8 year in the table.
AWN dom BELL ay.
I lose a bit more hair every time I hear that butchering.
How Gold came to the conclusion of using that pronunciation automatically makes me question his other conclusions.
Spurs was Ferdinands boyhood club.
Ferdinand and Ginola?
I just wonder how committed would be a player who has his arm twisted to move to Spurs.
