Journalist predicts Tottenham team to face Man Utd – probably very close

By Bruce Grove -

With the Premier League set to return to our screens next month, fans can now start envisaging how the games will unfold and what sort of team the manager will put out.

It has been a long time since we saw our team line up and players who were first choice before the suspension of the league might not be so lucky when the Premier League resumes.

However, for a team like Spurs who have some established names in their squad already, it might not be rocket science to guess who Tottenham will field when they return to action against Manchester United next month.

When the matches resume, Jose Mourinho will most likely be picking the players who have impressed him in training ahead of the restart as well as players who he trusts to do a job for him like Harry Kane.

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has given his prediction on the players he believes would start our first game and he is probably close to what Mourinho will go with.

He chose Hugo Lloris in goal, before picking Serge Aurier, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, and Ben Davies as the back four.

Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Dele Alli make up a three-man midfield, while Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Steven Bergwijn make up the front three in a 4-3-3 formation.

If there was one area I am not sure about it is the defence, especially the centre half partnership, other than that I reckon Gold is spot on.

Sissoko surely

Sanchez at CB for me and NDombele for Winks. Sanchez has pace and both our CBs can’t be slow.

What if he plays five at the back, then he could have Davies as LCB(where plays for Wales) and Japhet and Sessegnon to counter their pace out wide.I would have Sissoko holding in place of Winks, much more solid.
Depending on his form I might put N’Dombele in for Dele and move him further forward in place of Bergwijn
For me Dier is still the weak link particularly against pace.

Swap Sissoko or N’Dombele for Winks and you might have something.

No midfield protection, one fullback with no pace and one who likes to defend in the opposition half, against some of the paciest players in the Premier League. And a centre back who hasn’t played there for a long while.
