Journalist discusses Tottenham chances of signing Jack Grealish in Q&A

By Bruce Grove -

Spurs are unlikely to return with an offer for Jack Grealish in the summer even though they were very close to landing him in 2018, according to Football.London.

Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Jack Grealish and Mauricio Pochettino pushed had to sign him in the summer of 2018, however, it didn’t happen and he went on to help the Villans get promoted to the Premier League.

He is having a fine season yet again and clubs have been linked with a move for him especially if Aston Villa gets relegated, but he would still be more expensive now than he was when Tottenham first tried to sign him..

Manchester United and Tottenham are the two teams who have the strongest interest in him, but Alasdair Gold doing a Q&A for Football.London reckons that Spurs may have missed their chance to land him.

He claimed that Spurs should have tried harder to sign him in the summer of 2018 and says he doesn’t think that they would consider another attempt for him this summer as Jose Mourinho might not fancy him as Pochettino did.

“I’ve given my opinion plenty of times about how much of a mistake at the time it was for Spurs not to push harder to get Grealish before Villa’s new investors came in and how he could have given Pochettino a vital second option to Christian Eriksen when the team ran out of steam,” he said.

“It didn’t happen and if he’s not crazily priced by Villa then United and Spurs will both look at him but I’d be surprised if Tottenham bid again despite coming so close last time.

“There’s a new manager in charge since those days and Grealish might not fit the bill for Mourinho as he did for Pochettino, particularly with the new midfield arrivals in the past year, even if Tottenham do need to increase their homegrown numbers.”

Beckham couldnt use his left either… Its what they can do with that right though.. Grealish is a great all rounder he can tackle and head the ball well and they arent his forte.. We should have booted tintin out and got jack in. Everyone would have been a winner… Apart from villa 😆

Terrible decision, he’s going to have a big career as an England player as well. Yet we manage to go all in on Fernandes who the little I have seen seems totally underwhelming. A player we should sign before his stock goes through the roof is Eberechi Eze of QPR. Very quick, great vision, great dribbler, can score, can cross, can pass, has a bag of tricks to get by any defender. One weakness is he is very right foot dominant, improving his left will make it more difficult to mark him. And one more thing, all those flicks and lay offs Dele attempts, Eze pulls them off.

Yep, just one of those things……..

“Villa were willing to sell their talisman and captain for a cut-price £6m fee as they desperately needed the money, but Levy, determined to drive a hard bargain, reduced his offer to £4m,”
