Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2025.

When Tottenham sold Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis earlier this summer, they secured an agreement with the La Liga outfit to sign the American international next summer. Tottenham have an option option to sign the player permanently for a fee of around €25 million in 2025.

According to a report from ABC Sevilla (h/t SportWitness), the 23-year-old’s future is likely to be at Tottenham. The North London club will have to trigger his buyout clause in June next summer and it will be interesting to see if they are ready to break the bank for him.

If Tottenham choose not to exercise the clause, Real Betis will be able to sell him to another club and Spurs will receive a percentage from his sale.

The North London club could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the 23-year-old would be a useful acquisition. He has shown his quality with Real Betis in La Liga and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football as well. He could be a useful squad player for the North London club.

Tottenham will be hoping to do well across multiple competitions and they need a deeper squad so that Postecoglou can rotate his key players and keep them fresh for the big games.

Meanwhile, a move to Tottenham will be an exciting opportunity for the 23-year-old, and he will look to prove himself in English football. It would be an exciting step up in his career, and he will look to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality and potential. He could justify the investment in the coming seasons.
