Joe Hart posts an intriguing image on his Instagram account

By The Boy -

‘Big day’ says the immaculately turned out Joe Hart, I wonder what he might be up to, eh?

There’s been a few meh-type mumbles online about this deal, but we’re talking about a record golden glove holder, a man with 75 England caps, whose won everything domestically, coming to Spurs on a free.

This is a great signing that ticks the home-grown box, and has an abundance of experience to share with the group. Another winner.

More, please.

Same.. Jealous much… Football is better now though. Like most sports it’s evolved…. For starters no heavy leather balls with laces. No pitches that look like dirt swamps.. The tactics are now much deeper. More skill.

You can’t have glory winning nothing though.. Maureen has had far more glory and success then Billy Nic…. I don’t find losing year in year out entertaining or pretty.. Man city, liverpool, bayern all the top teams smashing us 5 6 or 7 nil……….. The sad truth here is that spurs DNA is described in one word….. Spursy.

Maureen has caused ripples and won wherever he’s been. Fergie was always backed at united. Maureen didnt spend much at porto and also Inter when he won the CL with them. He upset barcas and peps regime by winning with record points and goals in madrid. Pep had to leave and take a year out because of the stress. Multiple brawls I remember with maureen poking someone in the eye.. Noone else could stop barca back then. Maureens career has been fascinating in fact. We should be embracing our gaffer, he wins wars. He’s always been a live wire and had that edge…. I sincerely hope the Maureen we have now hasn’t changed too much. He seems too calm and collect at times.

This is why people are still sore mate.. We were unbeaten at the lane in that last year, Poch and our team were on the verge of greatness. We had 300 million plus saved up. Rather than invest in quality players to take us to the next level, walker replaced plus 2 or 3 decent signings, the superbowl is what we got with the team literally thrown out the window. Neglect that was so shocking it all predictably fell apart… We have a handful of quality players, but our squad is poor… My tune would change rapidly if our problems are addressed. Left back, right back, striker… More deadwood out… Ndombenchy gone and a proper centre mid coming in then I would be over the moon. A Steven Gerrard esq all rounded midfielder would help sort us right out. We need a creator to link up the defence and midfield to our forwards.

Too much to mention. That’s why I get annoyed about how hes done it. Compare to liverpool, which is a fair comparison, we finished above them loads over the last decade and they did it right. Saints really thought they’d get 35m why didn’t they tell Levy cough up or sell him to Everton who apparently really wanted him too? Perhaps they didn’t think he was a 35m player either.

Which sort of brings me to the conclusion that he was, yes actually a 15m player. Or are you going to try and correct me again and claim that Levy just beat them down? 😂

We don’t pay that kind of level across the squad otherwise our wage bill wouldn’t be so small would it. That’s why we lack depth and quality in depth.

The players are happy to sign the contract for the money they are offered Bergwjn .Dier,Alderweirld,Tanganga,Skipp,Hojbjerg all in the past 6 months,if they don’t have a problem why do you? Would you prefare another N’dombele fasico on £200.000 per week.Look at Bale,Ozil,Kepa players who got paid too much and the clubs can’t shift them.Or Abraham wanting power with his team mate Hudson Odoi on £180,000 per week.We could have hired a manager for a lot less than Jose.

Alfie Whiteman who was fourth choice keeper and I believe a Tottenham lad can maybe go on loan and get experience. The loan fee Norwich are paying for Skipp for next season would cover Harts wages for his first season. Amos has been sold with a sell on fee and we got £12m for Kwp. CarterVickers may be sold and Cirkin and White will be assessed in preseason to see if they can make the step up to the first team squad.Other deals will involve selling Aurier,Foyth, & Rose before new players arrive.Parrot going to Millwall will do him the world of good playing every week at a higher level instead of the under 23’s.

I get that to an extent, but we were constantly told that we had a great academy so the question is where is the fruits of that? Because that would have saved a nice few quid in wages that could go towards sealing more important deals as we agree on

Thanks for sharing,I’ve a better understanding now where you’re coming from.My uncle lived in Manchester and took me to City when I was over visiting on holiday from Belfast as a child,my brother supported Utd due to George Best and thought we were going to Old Trafford. After meeting Pat Jennings at around ten years of age Spurs have been my team ever since, also Gerry Armstrong playing alongside Ardiles and Hoddle were my earliest memories from WHL. Happy Times.Big Gerry lives nearby and still loves to talk football at every opportunity if he has the time.

My uncle, who was a season ticket holder at the time, kindly took me on my eight birthday as my father loathed football. Believe it or not, I met most of the Spurs team in the car park after the game and got most of their autographs in a book, which to my eternal shame, I later lost. In my teens, I used to go to Chelsea from time to time as I enjoyed watching the team of Osgood, Hudson and Cooke and most of my friends were Chelsea supporters. I also used to go to QPR, mainly to watch Stan Bowles when Sexton was the manager, and they also had Gerry Francis and Dave Thomas amongst others, but I was always a Spurs supporter first and foremost. As you can see, being something of a football purist, I find it hard to reconcile Spurs’s football heritage with Mourinho’s tactics but if we start winning, I imagine I will be cheering along with all the fans, but I have my doubts. That was a good Man City side you mentioned.

Have to say I’m with Tappa on this one (excluding the $$$$$ comments). I want us to win with style, but sometimes you have to be pragmatic and just plain win. I’d take a trophy playing the way we are now than playing the dynamite football we did for a while under Poch but win shag all. I think Jose has done a very good job stabilising us and making us hard to beat. That’s not pretty, but its solid. Your ire should be directed to Scrooge McLevy and his ability to single handedly undermine his managers with poor signings and haggling over the last bag of pork scratchings on most deals, thereby helping us to miss out on key signings that we needed at that time. I refer everyone to Liverpool as a model of how to improve and getting it done.

The modern day fans want to win at all costs no glory in losing. If winning wasn’t the be all and end all Levy wouldn’t get the abuse he gets for only winning one cup in 20years. I don’t think we can demand the style & flair of Liverpool or City when Mourinho hasn’t got like for like in players or finances available to him. The record books don’t remember how nice on the eye the losing finalists played.

As N’dombele is still a THFC player and we don’t know the outcome it’s more difficult to say.He could be swapped for a player of the same value, sold or turn up next season to be the player we wanted.

100% agree!! I have been a Spurs fan since the 80’s. Against all my personal life influences because of players like Gazza, Linekar, Hoddle and Waddle. My main player though was Gazza, not because he was a “winner” but because he is the type of player that made you love football. For me, counting trophies is almost like looking at bank balances, its great as a bench mark of success, but really not the reason I watch the sport or the team.

The reason I started supporting Tottenham in 1962 was because my uncle took me to my first professional football match and I fell in love with the club, which wasn’t difficult to do in those days. Remaining as a supporter was made harder by the fact that I lived in South London most of my life. Nevertheless I carried on through thick and thin times like all Spurs fans. I always enjoyed it more when we played entertaining football under the likes of Billy Nick, Keith Burkinshaw, David Pleat, Terry Venables, Harry Redknapp and Poch. It’s in the DNA of Spurs fans and as Man City and Liverpool have proved, you can play entertaining football and win. The greatest teams in international football, for example, Hungary, Brazil, Holland France all played wonderful football. Watching us play like Arsenal used to under George Graham gives me very little pleasure.
“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

I honestly love your passion for Spurs, I really do, but I struggle to get behind Jose, I didnt like him at Chelsea (or how he spoke about us), I didnt like him at united or how he played (and I have friends behind the scenes there with very negative stuff to say about how he treated the lesser people – or how he saw them), I am not going to suddenly love him now, to win me over the football needs to be what I enjoy watching, that is why many of the fan base still love Poch, he made us proud to be Spurs fans again. Jose can still win me over, but needs to do it on the pitch.

Personally I support Spurs, and was brought up believe “It’s no use just winning, we’ve got to win well” but you are right, lets spit on what Spurs are, to win, MAYBE. I support Spurs and our ethos on how we play. If I wanted to simply win lots, I would have been a glory hunter. for me, if football is boring, I wont watch it. For people with nothing better in their lives then carry on.
