“I’ve been told” – Tottenham looking to sign ‘luxury’ player to end transfer window with a bang

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Tottenham could sign a ‘luxury’ player before the transfer window shuts.

Jones believes Tottenham’s transfer business is not finished as yet, and that the club could potentially sign a luxury player towards the end of the window.

He told GIVEMESPORT:

“I’ve been told to look out for Tottenham signing a luxury player towards the back end of the window. They’re getting their main business done now, but Tottenham always go into the window in that last 10 days, that last week, because they just love to be involved in that and see if they can get one more that boosts morale, and that’s the sort of thing that might happen this summer as well.”

If one is to guess who this luxury signing could be, one name that has been linked with Spurs this summer is Paulo Dybala. TuttomercatoWeb reported last month that Tottenham are closely monitoring his situation, having expressed their admiration towards him.

If Spurs are serious about signing him, they will need to move in fast because a player of his quality will not be available for too long. If Conte manages to sign him, it would be the perfect end to an excellent transfer window.

If Richarlison turns out to be another NDembele he will be worth a bucket of dirty chicken and a big can of sulk..give him a chance.

The facts are these Spence is almost certainly going to be better than ..Reg, Doherty, Sess though Conte sees something in Royal ..maybe KWP will return and Southampton will get the much needed creative powerhouse Winky, I for one can see him doing great things with the Saints.
Speaking of untouchables what is all this hype about Dier ..which other Top Six club would he play for.

So what if he hasn’t, he’s world class as you will see…. Robertson is the best left wing back in the league. Cancelo is also world class there and it’s not even his position. Chilwell is good but not great. Alonso also good but not great.. This is why Chelsea were also wanted him if reports are true…
You didn’t say ‘get ahead’, you said he wouldn’t get a game.
Perisic would “get a game” at any club he goes to and would push anyone for their place.
He’s actually ahead of Chilwell and Alonso for me. He doesn’t get injured all the time like Chilwell and he’s a pure total footballer. He can also play pretty much anywhere across the park…. Stick Chilwell and Alonso and Robertson up top and they wouldn’t be able to do jack sh1t.. Perisic can lead the line at the back and front.. Yes he’s in the twilight of his career at 33, but like I said he’s still world class.

He’s 33 and hasn’t played in this league before. As I said, he’s not getting ahead of Robertson, Chilwell, etc.

Perisic would though, the man is world class with both feet… We now have one wing back who can cross, deliver, and score himself.

A transfer insider who works for eurosport… Like Romano works for Sky… These guys spend their time trying to find out information about transfers.. Transfer experts really. They tend to have deep knowledge on players and contacts in the game.

None of our current WBs – even Peresic – would get a game at MC, Liv or Cheatski. Given the tactical importance of this role it would be a priority for me. Not for ENIC and Levy though…..

Wing backs wing backs wing backs.

Signings so far all well and good, but mark my words, if we go into the season with mostly the same ones as before we will be rueing a hatful of missed opportunities in every game!

Even Spence – is he the answer, SO much play goes down the flanks, and we want to entrust that much possession to a 21 year old from the Championship?

I know what you mean, but he always puts in a shift. We overpaid by £10-15m. He is proven in the EPL though which Ndom wasn’t. We just need to need to get rid of a few, like Liverpool have done with Minamino and Neco Williams, to offset the price of him. Raking in £40m eases the cost of Biss and Richie.

He may be a little overpriced but he works hard and has a level of professionalism that N’Belly has never had. Very unfair on the new boy.

Having watched who our main rivals are likely to be and the players that they have signed,I can’t help thinking that Richarlison could turn out to be another Ndembele.I think that he was overpriced by at least 15 million quid.

We’re just going to have a summer full of so called journalists filling space with “could sign” stories containing nothing definitive except it might happen or it might not.

They’re about as reliable as making a wish, saying a prayer or playing the lottery.

Collins has a fantastic work ethic and dedication to keep improving. Heard a little piece on him on Irish radio. A player to watch.

I’m inclined to agree about Collins, but maybe Levy looked down his nose as he was a Burnley player. As a novice in the PL he certainly improved over the season.

Got to agree with others that a playmaker would be a luxury signing. We have struggled time and again against teams who pack their defense and that is something that has to change. At the end of the day he wouldn’t be that expensie as we shift our deadwood and we allegedly have 150M at our disposal.

A perfect window would include a creative midfielder which is something we totally lack if you exclude Lo Celso and N’Dombele. We run out of ideas against packed defences, leading to Kane being forced to drop further and further back. The RB problem has not been sorted out and I never understood why we sold KWP whom I believe has a £30 mill buy back clause. I cannot see Lenglet as a long term solution. He is not the quickest and I think he will struggle with the pace of the PL. I cannot help but feel that we missed a trick with Collins of Burnley who has signed for Wolves as my guess is that he will become a very good player. Dybala would be a marquee signing and would give us something completely different but I suspect that his signing will be unlikely. I think that Conte has signed real competitors in Bissouma, Perisic and Richarlison with the right mental attitude but we still have a lot of deadwood to shift. Once that is done, there should be plenty of money left out of the £150 million in Levy’s piggy bank.

Just seen the last few minutes of the first half.
Well this finally puts to bed the notion that Dier & Sanchez can defend. Free header with 3 defenders v 2 attackers. Maybe even worse just before how did the bloke miss – Dier turned inside out and Sanchez, I can see why Tonio wanted Bastoni.

We need wing backs…although to be fair Royal has played a good half, as has Sanchez…the rest of the team average at best so far…and Rich has had no service

I disagree in that if we could get the sort of ‘different option’ to unlock defenders in tight games that’s worth even more to us than another (they’re always a risk…) big money foreign central defender in an already drastically changed back line.

Both would be best but I’m also worried about bedding in FOUR new defenders in a back five all at once :/

Hope he’s watching the game, it hasn’t been great and Sess is still crap…

With Spence coming we are decently stocked in defence, another central defender would be great but…

C’mon…a game changing forward or creative mid I’d be all over if it was the choice of one or the other. We still lol a little light on goals, creativity and ‘options’ in the attacking third.

You have to assume Levy is on holiday in the Carabean again,as the deal for Spence has gone totally quiet. What was the point of apparently becoming personally involved if you are about to fcuk off.Although to be fair nobody else seems to be interested, should that tell us something?

Give Villareal what they want for Torres (circa £45M). Give them Lo Celso for circa £20M. Sign Spence for circa £18M.

If not, and Conte really wants him, try Inter with a £60M+ offer for Bastoni. The best players cost big bucks but make a big difference. Van Djik cost plenty but had a massive influence on Liverpool. Similarly Ruiz at City.

We are only a couple of top drawer players away from being very competitive. The final pieces of the puzzle can often be the hardest, but if not now, when? If we had the aforementioned V Djik and a De Bruyne we would be challenging for all competitions IMHO.

We just need to back Conte, utilise the upturn in our fortunes, and go for it. At the moment by the time we sell some of the unwanted players such as Winks, Lo Celso, Rodon, to add to CCV and Bergweijn, our net spend will be peanuts again. Let’s put some of the £150M to good use.
