It’s Only Just Dawned On Antonio Conte The Size Of The Task Ahead Of Him – My video view

By The Boy -

Conte is talking about the work that needs to be done, and it is my considered view that the Italian has arrived at the same conclusion as his recent predecessors did. Pochettino spoke of a house with no furniture. Nuno, bless him, mumbled about improving, and now we have Antonio Conte talking about the gulf between his squad and the likes of Chelsea’s.

Conte’s options in the current window are extremely limited, we must accept that. Beyond this, we have Tottenham’s track record when it comes to supporting managers. Whatever our interpretations might be, there are no quick fixes.

The Soul Harvesting Device – love it

Totally agree that this is a project and I think it will be 2 years at least before we see us competing with the top teams again and that is if, IF, we get recruitment and investment sorted……and we keep Conte. We can catch a good team on a bad day, but eventually quality tells. That is where we are at. Green shoots are not towering oaks are they?

5:58 “Every penny is invested back into the club.”

Spot on impression of Levy. That was great.

I do think it is actually helpful to be facing this Chelsea squad another 2 times quickly. Yes, it is tough love, but these lads need to be facing the tough tasks and learning how to handle them with at least a bit more to offer in resistance than what was shown. Teaching moments for Conte.

There was a much different demeanor to his post presser than usual. I think I saw a bit of resignation there, but I hope it is short-lived.

I cannot believe Conte when taking the job did not get reassurances on transfer dealings, I would be incredibly disappointed in him if does not stand up to Levy, somebody has to and now is the time.

Conte is no mug. He knew what he was getting into. Heads he wins, tails Levy loses. An 18 month holiday at the Lodge, try out some new formations and stuff, then it’s off to Bayern or Barca or some other genuine big club.

I found your vlog utterly depressing and unfortunately truthful. I will proceed to list some if not all our problems, many of them covered by HH.

  1. We are not a football club in the real sense of the words but a property company whose only motivation is to increase it’s NAV with the intention to try and sell it at the optimum time. This is why Levy keeps coming out with ludicrous valuations of the club despite the debt.
  2. The football club is the anchor tenant of an NFL stadium. This has been confirmed in print.
  3. The mantra that some how Spurs are different to other clubs is partly true. We are not interested in winning anything unlike most other clubs.
  4. The nonsense spouted by some Levyologists that Lewis and Levy don’t take any money out of the club is a complete miasma of lies. Levy is well over remunerated and received a farcical bonus over the new stadium. Lewis owns 70% of Enic which is worth considerably more than he paid for it as any money accrued by the club has been used to buy property assets.

Football fans generally want to feel that the chairmen and the directors of their respective clubs are doing their best for their club. Spurs have the reverse of this where the shareholders are bleeding the club dry by refusing to invest in new players whilst hoovering up more property assets. Not only that, they continue to rinse the fans with overpriced STs and other seating, and overcharging them for food and beverage and extremely costly merchandising tat. Whilst they continue doing this, they also peddle a plethora of lies and disinformation about their ambition for the club whilst issuing the twenty year old mantra that we are different from other clubs!
It is quite frightening how after such a short period of time that Conte, whom I incidentally like, is now almost beginning to sound like past managers , broken on the wheel of Levy’s chicanery and downright dishonesty. Some fans attribute Conte’s rather downbeat presser to a realisation that it’s going to be a lengthy task. I see it as an already dawning realisation that he will never get the players he wants with Levy in charge. In essence, he is probably considering his exit strategy.
“Put not your trust in the son of man in whom there is no hope,” and certainly not in Levy, the spawn of the Devil.

I’m convinced Conte did his due diligence when he turned us down first time. Something happened to change his mind. More money most likely. However, I think last night it dawned on him that he sold his soul to the devil ( Levy)

The job of managing Spurs is beyond the best in the game. We’ve tried two of the best. We’ve tried the most promising too. The constant in all their failures points to Levy.

It’s Inevitable, when it comes to spending and building a squad capable of winning stuff Levy is out of his depth. He brings in DOF’s only to ignore them. He brings them in to smokescreen his interference.

We are the best part of a week into the transfer window. Negotiations for comings and going’s don’t start on the 1st Jan. Discussions between players and agents started weeks if not months ago. Conte would’ve also quickly identified who he wants in and who he wants out. Nuno would’ve got the ball rolling and I’m guessing on the outs both would’ve had the same list. But here we are.

Conte says Jan won’t solve the problems. He’s right. Two good signings would however go a long way in finishing the second half of the season with some pride in tact.

The importance of the Jan window is to shed The deadwood and dressing room influencers. Dele, Winks, N’Dombele Doherty, Lo Celso Bergy should be shown the exit door. They are dragging us down with inept performances. They drain the life out of their fellow team mates. They are mood hoovers, and need to go now.

Be under no illusion Spurs fans. This window will be no different to any window under Levy. The hope that it will is what gets you.

I think we can safely say that January is not going to be a month we will be able to remember fondly. We were exposed by Chelsea last night and that experience will doubtless be repeated twice more before the month is through, as Conte suggests they are simply better than us. I hate to say it but the NLD will likely be similar and quite possibly the re-arranged game against Leicester on the 19th as well. That leaves the FA cup tie with Morecombe on Sunday! Best for our collective memory/wellbeing to erase January even at this early stage. I don’t think Conte was under any illusion that the task at Spurs was going to be huge and long term, after all he has had sight of this decline just like the rest of us. What I do think is that there are some players worth keeping and others who could improve with the introduction of other, better players to be brought in over the course of a few windows. There are several players who need to be moved on. We look for and often hope for the quick fix (it’s part of the culture we are part of) but it’s unrealistic especially with a growing history of either poor or non-existent investment in players. Over to you Danny.

I’m not sure it’s “only just” dawned on him, but I take your point.

The key thing, as you rightly say, is there’s no quick fix. Realistically, the best we can hope for in January is that Paratici brings in a couple of Conte’s picks and moves on some of the dead wood to pastures new.

Neither, I fear, is going to prove easy (which club in its right mind would want Dele Alli, for instance?), but I live in hope.

I think Conte will quit by the end of the season. He seems pretty downbeat and he won’t take being offered crumbs which is Levy’s MO. Another ‘rebuild’ awaits……..
