It’s Gotta be uncomfortable for Daniel Levy to see the name of an Anti-Semitic movement on his Spurs shirts

By The Boy -

Here’s the thread.

Read it or do not. I genuinely don’t care.

My question to those that do, is what happened to Kick It Out, who to the very best of knowledge, don’t hate Jews.

Funny old game.

History will show (as it always does) that the Right infiltrate these movements and destabilise them (quick swing to anarchy under both movements).

But yeah movements that start as people wanting to improve the world we live in must obviously descend into unworkable chaos because a better world is impossible and we need to carry on as it is. FFS.

What a load of right wing drivel. Defunding some police forces in the US seems a good idea as some seem corrupt from top to bottom. Re instate a different police force at another time would also seem like a good idea. I suppose the problem with black people is they haven’t chosen to live just in their own communities they came out did what white people do from going to work to to going out dancing to running record labels driving buses working in hospitals and on and on. Maybe it’s just people like you who seemingly singles them out as different that is at the root of all this. Good and bad in all people. In 2018 the Metropolitan Police in giving evidence to the United Nations stated that if force was used to detain a black person they were twice as likely to die in custody, .Inquest.com, As for all the bollix about funding , who funded the EDL. Where did Steve Yaxley Lennon get the money for a £ 950,000 house..donations possibly. What’s good enough for the goose. Marbella eh were you a bank robber..nah that would be stereotypical.
I do agree it’s stupid to confuse the issues dragging other conflicts into it.

Scumbags like you are on the slide. You’ve tried to suffocate normal decent people and it’s failed, thank goodness.

Guess what happens next?

That’s right, I’m going to exercise my right to indulge in something you invented with your cancel culture…

I’m de-platforming you.

1) why not?
2) why?
3) I’m not ‘trying’ anything. When I see someone in our fanbase, especially someone with a platform like yours, using that platform to needlessly undermine an anti-racist movement and provoke more divisions and tension, I’m going to call them out.

We’re all better than this: you, I, and everyone reading this, knows there are people with opinions we find awful in all walks of life. That doesn’t make them representative of whatever phrase, badge or flag they claim they’re defending. And most of the time, they’re perfectly normal, nice people, who’ve just become adamant about their views because they’ve never been encouraged to question them: of course there will be antisemites amongst the people saying ‘black lives matter’, just as there are antisemites who support Spurs. That doesn’t make Spurs an antisemitic club, and it doesn’t make BLM an antisemitic movement.

I mean, you’ve got people here arguing that BLM is antisemitic while insisting BLM is suspicious because Soros funds their non-existent organisation. That’s literally using an antisemitic argument to condemn antisemitism. And you’re standing by it.

Lots of BS here.

Conflation of anti semitism with criticism of Israel. I could understand when tory lapdog braindeads did it to destroy Corbyn but BLM? Ffs.

BLM isnt an organisation and people should actually look up what ‘defund the police’ actually means; it isn’t literal.

Lots of scared gammons about these days, who knew?

The state of America says it all.. Nearly a civil war there were so many revolting…trump didnt help the man is a fool. Its not just words when protests turn violent and people get hurt.. Personally i treat everyone the same it doesnt matter what colour or where your from.. Everyones entitled to their opinions, I’m all for free speech.. But once again the BLM has been taken too far.. If anyone turns up on my property pulling flags down, or statues, or damage anything or threaten anyone in my vicinity then they will get whats coming to them. Whether white black yellow red or green.

OK, let me try explaining it this way, using three imaginary scenarios for you.

1) A Spurs fan burns down a police station. They claim it was because Spurs fans are oppressed.

2) At a pre-match gathering of Spurs fans, a police station is burnt down (but no one knows who by). A Spurs fan speaks to the media and says it was because Spurs fans are oppressed.

3) At a pre-match gathering of Spurs fans, a group of Spurs fans are caught on camera burning down a police station. One of them claims it was because Spurs fans are oppressed.

Now, I’d argue that in none of these scenarios you, or anyone else, would be calling Spurs supporters “a criminal organisation who break the law”, even if it happened on multiple occasions. Do you not agree? So how can you do so with BLM?

As well intentioned the vast majority of people’s involvement in the BLM thing has been, it is (just by its nature of being a twitter hashtag)
littered with problems as a concept. Things get out of control an incoherent very quickly in the world of social media, and as a medium it’s not really fit for this kind of purpose, or much else for in fact.

Kick It Out and other anti discrimination organisations generally have a clear focus. A hashtag followed by millions of people globally does not, it can’t and it’s not possible.
It’s the same with Extinction Rebellion, there’s an original reason to begin something but before you know it you’ve got pensioners on the roofs of trains stopping people
going to work.

I see you’ve edited your comment and are trying to link to https://www.influencewatch.org/movement/black-lives-matter/

You might want to educate yourself on who they are and who funds them:

Influence Watch is owned by the Capital Research Center, which in turn is funded through donations. Some of their top donors are Exxon-Mobil, Koch Industries, and the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.

Influence Watch has also been directly funded by the Bradley Foundation and the John William Pope Foundation. The common theme among all donors is conservative political affiliation and ties to the fossil fuel industry.

They’re about as unbiased as Fox News.

Any rate, they call BLM a ‘movement’ – not an organisation – just like you. There’s a big difference.

George soros pumped in over 33million. Over 100 mil pumped in by others.. The founders are connected to large radical left organisations.

Steve KillerCushion Williams

BLM is far more than ‘just words’.. Tesco adverts and slogans and workers are irrelevant.. The BLM movement collection of groups
has come to take a variety of forms since 2013 from groups that favor protest and have no intention of supporting candidates, to others that have been lobbying candidates and elected officials. In 2016 a coalition of over 50 organisations known as the movement for black lives released a wide reaching and in depth platform detailing the coalitions policy demands. This platform known as the vision for black lives and laid out six far left policy planks/demands pulled largely from the 1996 black panther ten point program. The platform denounced the US military, characterized Israel as an apartheid state, demanded extensive redistribution of financial resources and insisted upon the socialisation of the American economy. The vision for black lives platform was sharply criticized by the jewish community because the platform condemed americas alliance with Israel and claimed that through this they are complicit in the genocide taking place against the Palistinion people.
Demonstrating the friction between the various black right activist groups operating under the black lives matter movement banner, in August 2015, campaign zero put forth their own policy program and notably did not sign the ‘vision for black lives’ platform.
Critics blame BLM for worsening race relations in America. Also creating hostile environment for communities and police.
The BLM movement founders have connections to radical left organisations. It’s estimated that groups in the movement have taken in 133million since 2013. Organisations of george soros are said to have invested at least 33 million since 2016. This is the same george soros who is infamously ‘ the man who broke the bank of england’. The lists of foundations and funding for these groups are massive amounting to over 100 million.

I will start again as I had a typo so I will reply to your condescending answer.
BLM is a criminal organisation who break the law. Damaging public or private property for whatever reason is illegal. If they had been white hooligan football supporters or members of EDL, they would have been prosecuted. Their funding will be revealed in due course. You can’t be naïve enough to think that theses demos have been organised without financial support.
It is hard to believe that the PL is a racist organisation and the people who watch it are racist given the amount of black players in it. Go and watch football in Spain or Italy if you want to see racism.
I am not tarring the critics of Israel with the same brush but I have never heard somebody criticising Israel who claims that they are not anti Semitic,. this is a common theme. Have you ever been there? The police are here to uphold the law. There are rotten apples in any police force but defunding them which is one of BLM’s aims is ridiculous.
You seem to be unable to take on board the fact that other ethnic minorities manage to better their lives without constant recriminations that they are not given an opportunity in “racist ” Britain. As a Spurs supporter, I am aware of racist comments, but, nevertheless, Jewish immigrants have prospered in Britain as have Chinese and Indian immigrants.

First of all, you (and the OP) are conflating the slogan on the football shirts with the bunch of people trying to own it. If you want to believe it’s some sinister conspiracy with mystery funding, go right on ahead, but it’s a totally daft argument.

Secondly you’re tarring all critics of Israel with the same brush, and then in the same paragraph complaining about others doing exactly that to police. Can you see the hypocrisy there, and maybe reflect on it? Because it seems to me a sensible person can’t consider both of those arguments valid, so choose one.

Lastly, I’m going to have to just quote your words back at you: “I have never heard the Jewish community, the Chinese community, the Indian community claim they are victimised in “racist” Britain”

I mean… Seriously? You know this is a Spurs blog, right? And you know we’re discussing (amongst other things) anti-semitism right now? And you’ve never heard the Jewish community claim they are victimised?

Honestly, just take a breath and think things through before commenting again. I appreciate this is condescending, but your comment invited it. Believe it or not, I’m not picking your arguments apart for sport here: I wrote what I did to start a discussion, but if you make arguments that don’t make sense, I’m going to have to point it out.

BLM is not a slogan it is a quasi political organisation which is dedicated to overthrowing democracy to suit their own agenda .Defunding the police and closing the prisons is a fantasy project. They are nothing more than anarchists. Who funds them?
Of course you can criticise Israel, which incidentally is the only democracy in the Middle East, but it is a constant mantra that you do not need to be anti-Semitic to criticise Israel when most people who do are inherently anti-Semitic. You only have to look at the Labour party.
The killer of George Floyd has been charged with his death and three of his associates are under arrest, pending charges. Injustices do happen and one always hopes they are resolved but the BLM seek to blame everybody for their supposed misfortunes. I have never heard the Jewish community, the Chinese community, the Indian community claim they are victimised in “racist” Britain and that they cannot get ahead because of their race.

1) ‘Black Lives Matter’ is a slogan, not a political organisation – just because a Twitter account claims to speak for ‘BLM’ doesn’t actually make it so. It’s no more embarrassing or awkward for Levy than if I registered @AIAofficialUK and started posting hateful stuff specifically about him.

2) Criticism of Israel is not inherently anti-semitism. It’s obviously tricky, because a lot of anti-semites use criticism of Israel as a dog-whistle, but that doesn’t mean Israel should not be held accountable for its actions.

3) What exactly is the point of this blog post? Black lives don’t matter because some of them might be anti-semites? Football shouldn’t try to do something positive in support of black people because other racism also exists? What do you think you’re saying here, and in what way are you any better than the people you’re apparently trying to call out, if your sole contribution is to call an anti-racism movement racist?

I really wonder what would have happened with the BLM name stunt had been tried at a full stadium. Personally if I were chair of “kick it out” I would be at the PL asking WTF! What makes BLM any more important than the lack of Asian players, or Jewish representation? Why align with a militant organisation with one agenda when a perfectly suitable one is already aligned which represents multi ethnicities?

Marbella Spur
Marbella Spur

BLM is a criminal organisation. It wants to defund the police and close the prisons. Destroying a nations ancient monuments, despite their links to dubious personages whose activities in days gone past were largely legal is the work of iconoclasts who want to wipe out a nation’s history. This is akin to the Taleban destroying ancient artefacts and to the insane regime of Pol Pot. The craven behaviour of politicians, the media, sports channels, the police and local government is only going to store up trouble. When you see the craven left wing nonsense being spread by our Universities, one understands why the leadership of this country is in such a mess. Once the police recognise that they are there to maintain law and order and not display their political allegiance, they should start arresting the violent BLM protesters. If they are on benefits, they should lose them and any student found breaking the law should have his tuition cut with immediate effect. It will be interesting to see when they discover exactly who is funding the BLM movement.

The world has gone pc mad.. All colours, lives and races matter.. The unfortunate Floyd case was more of a case of police brutality, rather than a racist attack. I’ve seen worse in england and our police are softer. Whether white, black, or mixed race hasn’t made a difference, it just takes the wrong copper at the wrong time.

James McKevitt

Sport and politics, not a good mix, but with footballs popularity it can be used for interested parties agendas. Personally I’d have no anthems at International games and less of the flag waving. Less of the Presidents and political personages and establishment figures shaking hands with the teams. .
