‘It’s a farce…’ Tottenham insider claims club could be in a ‘disaster of a situation’

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Tottenham insider John Wenham, Spurs are in a disaster of a situation as they try to off-load Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

Fabrizio Romano updated last week that the player’s agent has been talking to a couple of clubs regarding a move away from Spurs but there had been no advanced talks.

And now, as per the latest reports by Wenham, Spurs are finding themselves in a complete mess of a situation with Ndombele. When asked by Football Insider what he thinks will happen with the player, he said:

“I think he’ll leave on loan on the very last day of the window to a real underwhelming French club.

“Way below the levels of Lyon and teams like that. Somewhere like a Bordeaux, Guingamp, St Etienne, though I’m not even sure they’re in the top level any more.

“Someone really lower down the level where Tottenham are paying all his wages and another year of his contract’s gone. It’s a farce of a situation we’re trapped in, with him on £200,000-a-week and three years to go. It’s an utter disaster of a situation.”

The midfielder is one of the few players whose future at the club remains extremely uncertain. He has struggled to make it into the team under Conte and was sent out on loan to the French side Lyon where he had an underwhelming season as well. With the top clubs not supposedly interested in him, this could very well turn into a messy situation for Spurs.

I’d laugh if it weren’t such a damning indictment of the way the club is run. Truly shocking stuff. I don’t even blame Wobblybelly, he’s just a useless, lazy waste of talent. If our scouting saw fit to bring him in and the board sanction £200k a week in wages then that’s because they’re obviously stupid, and their boss is a clueless schmuck…

Surely it would be better to make him one of the five substitutes for every home game; bring him on in injury time when the result is certain, and allow the crowd to humiliate him until he tears up his contract?

Paying him 10 million a year to potter about somewhere in France sounds like a terrible idea to me.

For the good of all concerned I do hope ‘there is a player in there’ brigade have finally changed their minds or at least been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

The news that no one wants Ndom is hardly groundbreaking journalism. We knew we were stuck with him for the entirety of his contract after 6 months. £10m a year wasted on wages and the + £50m transfer fee needed accountability, because as a business deal this was a car crash! Have we had a worse transfer, and we have had a few stinkers!

Lyon are still laughing at us and whether this was a Hitchen or Levy choice it shows neither have an idea how to scout, undertake due diligence or investigate any player of note.

It isn’t farcical now, it was farcical as soon as Lyon said ‘Of course you can have him”, Levy stumped up the transfer fee and he asked to visit KFC after he landed at the airport.

I don’t care who this clown plays for, but I would much prefer the club buys his contract out and shifts him on pronto to France’s Ligue 2.

He is on 9;6 mil a year for 3 more years ..plus all the time that will be wasted on him trying to undone his talent ..let’s round it up to 30 mil.
That is another decent player ..one that wants to play .
For a club like ours I would argue that the lack of expertise and due diligence applied to this players procurement and his wages his negative influence makes this transfer in terms of transfer business a disaster.

I thought that was a tall African who also screwed the arse and Man City. But have to agree it’s got to be the Tan Guy who’s the worst!
Needs a few serious training injuries so the insurance company pick up the wage tab!

Utter rubbish
“Einstein” was telling us a few months back
we will be offloading all these deadwood players. Only 1 really matters all the rest can find homes bar this tosser.
Come on Einstein whats to become of NDonk?

FWIW I wouldnt do that why pay all his wages then send him on a 12 month holiday at St Etienne.
Make life effing hard for him so hopefully he comes on his knees begging Levy to tear up his contract (for 1/2 pay obvs.)

I’d have liked to see him on the SKorea tour, taking part in the televised sickener pitch runs in that humidity, probably wouldn’t make it past the halfway line before passing out and needing a couple of hamburgers to revive him.

I must say that “disaster” is an extreme word to use . However , we have a player that cant /wont make the effort required [ he has uundoubted ability] to compete for a squad / team place , he isn’t attracting interest from ANY leading clubs because of affordability and lack of desire on the players part . We ARE paying him £200k per week to watch him get fat-ter day by day and probably he is losing all round urgency to play for anyone . So not a disaster ………..what would be the correct word here ?

How does anyone write rubbish like this. A “disaster”?

For goodness sake reserve your hyperbole for something appropriate.
