Italian journalist Tony Damascelli has ripped into Antonio Conte for the comments he made after Tottenham’s draw against Southampton.

Speaking to Radio Radio as reported by CMW, Damascelli said that if Conte has any dignity, he would resign from the job.

He also pointed out that while Tottenham may not have a rich history of winning trophies, it was precisely why the club hired Conte in the first place.

The journalist’s criticism didn’t stop there. He argued that allowing a struggling team to draw with Spurs was unacceptable and a sign that something wasn’t right.

He said:

“If you have dignity and you want to follow up on those words, you have to resign.”

“If you look at Tottenham’s history, it’s as if you were coming to Lazio who have won only one Scudetto recently.

“That’s why they hired him, if you let the team bottom of the table draw with you at 3-3, things aren’t right.

“There are two things: either dismissal or resignation.”

Moreover, Damascelli claimed that Tottenham have already contacted former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as a possible replacement for Conte.

He added:

“I know that Luis Enrique has already been contacted, there is a good possibility that he will go to England.”

He may not be resigning but the Italian is close to be shown the door if the latest reports are to be believed. The developments over the last 24 hours indicates that Conte will be sacked and Ryan Mason will be asked to take over as interim manager until the end of the season.

The club plans on hiring a new manager for next season as a fresh start and Luis Enrique has been shortlisted as one of the main candidates who the club are in contact with as per Damascelli.
